There should be a drain plug on the underside of the mower deck. Raise that side of deck, remove the plug and drain the oil. Replace the plug and add new oil. Hope this helped.

Troy, Unless you are using old fuel (it breaks down after 1 week) it sounds like you have a faulty spark plug. Replace this first, drain any old fuel and replace with fresh fuel (premium unleaded). A faulty plug will work one minute but then fail like you have described.

The plug is under the mower on the bottom of the engine. Make sure you take the spark plug wire off before you work, remove the blade (it needs sharpening anyway right?) and then tilt the mower on its side WITH THE CARBURETOR UP. position an aluminum cake tin under the mower so that once you remove the oil plug using a 3/8" ratchet you can set the mower back down over the cake tin and it will catch the oil. Don't forget to put the plug back in =-)
