Will not power up

Always, always the problem with monitors is the "power supply board", and that is almost always a blown sixty-seven cent (or so) capacitor.

Here is a seller on Ebay that will send you EVERY capacitor it might be, and will make a few cents on the deal: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Repair-Kit-Soyo-Topaz-DYLM24D6-LCD-Monitor-/330499791194

Open the monitor case up (Google for instructions) and see if you can observe (or smell) the bad capacitor. You will be able to tell what component I am talking about after looking at that ad on Ebay for the capacitor kit. If it is patently obvious to you which capacitor it is (as sometimes it can be), go to the Radio Shack in the local mall, and buy a cheap soldering iron, a bit of solder, and the specific capacitor you need.

(you will have to hurry however: Radio Shack went bankrupt, and all the stores will be closed by the end of this month)

However you do this, the Fixya will be under twenty bucks, and the monitor will be better than new! Read the instructions in that Ebay advertisement, too - you will understand how easy this fix is when you do.

Won't power up

Bad power supply board capacitor, most likely.

99.99% probability.

(the other .01% is it is not plugged in)

I HAVE REPLACE THE CAPS ON THE POWER SUPPLY BOARD OF A SOYO TOPAZ DYLM24D6 BUT I MADE A MISTAKE AND PLACE THE 2.2 50V CAP IN THE WRONG POSITION ON THE BOARD, COULD YOU PLEASE TELL ME THE BOARD NUMBER...

I canot find the free service manual for this model, but if you can post the pictures, then it may help me to tell you since the foot print of the 2.2uF will be so much smaller than the oher large value caps on the board.

I have a soyo dylm2284. On power up it displays screen but quickly turns itself off untill I power back up....Any suggestions to fix. It is out of warrenty

It may have backlight power supply problem or inverter circuits problems.
Check for caps with domed tops first.

If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

My Soyo 19" TFT monitor Model:MT-NI-DYLM1998 comes on at power up but goes black after a few seconds. But on repeating turning power off then on again, the monitor comes on and then goes black again after...

Thank you for answering those questions. That usually indicates it has a bad power inverter. From what i can tell, that monitor is a few years old. You can attempt to find an inverter online to replace it yourself (usually about $50 if you can find one) since its no longer covered under warranty, or put that money into getting a new monitor.

I would not be surprised if it does have bad caps in the power supply section.

I need a new driver for my soyo monitor

Your soyo monitor doesn't require a driver. Make sure you download and install the latest driver for your video card and during the install of that, your monitor should have its drivers installed as well. At that point you'll be able to use your monitor properly. There isn't any drivers available on the net that I could find. Only other option is if your monitor came with a cd, that might have drivers on it.

If you can solder connectors you can build your own power supply for SOYO. Try the following link or google "gbyer external power supply".

Replacement power supplies were avilable recently but it seems they are all depleted.
