Davey HP45-05 with Rainbank is not switching off the town water from flowing into the tank and hence going down the drain. How do I check if the problem is with the sensor or the Rainbank? Town water feeds into the water tank when the water level falls below a level of a few inches above the bottom of the water tank, at the point of a Sensor going to the Rainbank. My problem is that either the Sensor is not working or the Rainbank is not reacting to the Sensor and causing town water to continue to flow into the tank and overflow and send water down the drain. I have turned off the town water feed to the tank. How do I check if the problem is with the sensor or the Rainbank?
Take the sensor above water level--say in a bucket of water then lift it out of the bucket
if the mains water flows or stops flowing depending on whether the sensor is in or out of the water will indicate it sensor or solenoid of the rainbank
I suspect that the sensor will be a simple float arrangement filled with mercury so that when it is hanging down ( no tank water) the mercury bridges a set of contact points and makes a circuit and when it get to a fill point the mercury flows away from the points and so breaks the circuit
Testimonial: "I should have mentioned that the Sensor is not a float but is actually fitted at several rungs above bottom level. I imagine thAt I should be able to measure a Voltage or ???? which is then connected to the Rainbank to switch On / Off the town water."
correct
measure the current empty and above level operation
the recent information would have been very helpful in the first instance
Thanks Bill, I gorget that you (anyone reading my question) doesn't kmow eactly what I mean. I can easlly see where the float / Sensor switch and automatically assumed that my description would have been clear(er). Apologies
