This isn't technical at all, but I find I need to just give the top upper right hand side of the door a firm shot with the heel of my hand and that sets it back into place where it will print again.

Good luck.

I have an HP Deskjet 6980. After changing the black ink cartridge i tried to print. The printer takes the paper but doesnt print, just the Power and the resume lights are blinking. If I press the resume...

The printer might be working but the cartridge is not connected properly. Just open your printer, remove the cartridge and replace it back in its right position.

The door does not close on the right side on my deskjet 6980

On the HP 6980 et al printers the right side of the lid does not completely close. The reason is a design flaw. If you pull the bottom of the right side cover out no more than 3/8" to release the clips and then lift it up you will reveal the lid gears and lid closed switch pawl. The area where the switch pawl contacts the lid gear needs generous lubrication. If that fails then removing the sharp edges of the contacting areas will be required and then the lubrication.

Here is the solution. Sorry the expert above was vague. (Sorry mate but it is hard to believe you are an expert when you can't write properly or spell even close. Good luck in the future if you work hard and improve your skills)

Below is the solution provided by HP it works.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&docname=c01065334&dlc=en&product=467982

Following below is the thread from a forum that used the above solution and their results. All worked with step 2 from above once it was verified that there is no paper jam.

Also don't waste your time with HP support. They know nothing of their own tech bulletin.

Sometimes the top does not "click" into place in the top right hand corner. Give this a firm push down and you may hear a click, I had this problem a few times and this solved it.

How to change black ink cartridge of HP Deskjet 6980

Lift the cover up.

The ink jet carriage should park in the center of the carriage.

Gently lift on the front of the ink jet until it removes. Some you have to lift up and some you have to lift down on. Just be careful.

HP inkjet cartridges tell you on the front of the stick by a dot weather it is tri color or black.
