Question about Lutron Electrical Supplies

Open Question

Luton lights switches don't work in most of the house.

We have a Lutron lighting system which was installed in 2008, I am not sure which system it is. Last night when we went to turn on the lights, they would not go on (except for the bedroom/bath control), unless we went into the switch in the garage and pressed "Home" in which case certain lights went on. When we press any of the switches the house (again, except for the bedroom/bath), they just blink and the lights will not goon.

SOURCE: Connecting Leviton Decora light switch.

At the switch you have a feed wire coming in this brings in power which originates in the electric panel. You also have a feed or feeds goings out to other lts or switches, this you seem to have on the switch. instead of the closet switch loop.undo all the wires. find the only hot this is the one wire you can touch to the others and make different lts come on i reccomend getting a electric tester to do this. FInd the wire that goes to the closet lt. Once your sure put it to the side. wirenut all other wires together with the hot wire. this makes all other switches independantly hot. connect the hot to the switch and the closet lt to switch. I HOPE THIS MAKES SOME SENSE TO YOU . let me know if i can help

SOURCE: putting outside lamps on exterior on timer

why not connevct them up to a movement sensor, that way they come on when you make a movement near them. So they dont fire off when cats or birds fly by make sure you set them to close to your height. Then you can see your way to the shed turn the lighjt on that you can now see where the switch is and then turn it back off when you leave. Most of these sensor lights can be set toa timed on period

cheap and easy to install

SOURCE: triple rocker switch to control 3 function bathroom fan/light

I suggest you cut 3 pigtails out of your black wire (about 5-6" each and strip them so you can put a nut to tie them all together on the main wire, then do the same for your grounds using green 5-6" strips of wire and then connect all 3 switches with the pigtails to their proper locations. This WILL fix your problem.

SOURCE: not sure how to wire this switch

Switch will have a commom terminal that the hot wire connects to.
The other three terminals are for the devices -- light, fan and other device.

The white wires should be the grounded wire returns for the circuits unless they are identified by color tape to be hot line side of power.

Be careful of the grounded side of circuit, can shock or kill, treat all wires as being energised. If you are not sure, use a electrical tester,
or get help.

I had an electrician over to replace some low-voltage light bulbs that were too high for me to reach, and also a couple for which changing the bulb didn't work. He changed the bulbs and left one with...

I do not know what happened.
Check the circuit breaker.
The electrician is probably asking somebody else right now, because tradespeople want to know everything about their trade to expand skill and make money easier.
Lutron has customer support number for you and the electrician:
Calling Lutron might narrow down what product you have, and isolate problem.
Once exact product is known, this will be helpful for the electrician.
Plus you can re-post a question on fixya, and expert will look up that product and give possible help. This will also help you double-check the electrician.
Between Lutron, the electrician, and fixya, a solution is probably reachable.

Night light in lutron wall switch flashing can it be fixed and how

Unfortunately, no. Its a neon bulb that gets soldered into the product, so its not something that can be tweaked or replaced. My suggestion would be to call their tech support number 1-800-523-9466, and see if you can get them to replace the whole dimmer.

How to install

Lutron S2-LFSQ is made to control one ceiling paddle fan & 1 light. Switch will not work on florescent lights.
See manual

To use this product, your fan and light must already be controlled by 2 separate switches.

If you have just one switch that turns on the light & fan together, the S2-LFSQ will not work (without additional wiring).

Okay, you have two switches. One switch turns fan on-and-off. The other switch turns light on-and-off.

Here is wiring diagram from manual: See diagram larger

Here's how to wire:
-Before disconnecting wires from existing switches, mark each wire with tape and pen.
-There is one wire that feeds power to both switches > mark this the 'Hot wire' and it connects to Lutron black wire (if you are unsure about this wire, remove switches, separate wires, turn on power and test each wire to bare ground, tape tester leads to wood sticks so hands are away from power, Tester lights up on Hot wire)
-The switch that controls fan > mark this the 'Fan wire' and it will connect to Lutron Yellow wire
-the switch that controls light > mark this the 'light wire' and it will connect to Lutron Red wire
-Lutron Green wire or bare wire connects to bare ground wire.

Our dimmer switched worked perfectly last night and this morning. This afternoon when I went to turn the light on it didn't work. It works if you manually hit the up or down button on the side. However,...

sounds like an internal part has broke and you will have to replace the whole switch. anytime you have trouble with something like that it is always best just to go ahead and change it. it doesn't if its a day old or 10yrs old. not worth the chance of burning yourself down.
