Had the oven door off, the hinges seem strong enough but when closed there is a gap at the top of oven. Will it need a new oven door or new hinges? Help please.
Sounds to me like bottom hinges are set to close to oven/ need spacers so oven door closes flat top and bottom at moment it seems that bottom is to tight before oven door is closed ,try fitting spacers behind hinge fixings at bottom, good luck

you need to either replace - or get the door hinges replaced, the spring in the hinges has weakened over time, if it is still in warranty, then they should replace them for free, if not, then take the model number to your local f&P dealer and buy new hinges. Remove the door and dismantle the door to gain access to the hinges, undo the 2 screws holding each hinge in place, clean the inside of the glas while apart, reassemble in reverse order.
If you take the hinges off, you can fit some washers between the hinges and the door to make it close it further. Probably not as good as new hinges, but cheaper. 2mm of washers will close a 5mm gap
The door is v heavy and the hinges being right at the bottom take a lot of strain, especially when the door is in 'half open' position. Once the springs start to wear the hinges are no longer strong enough to hold the top of the door firmly closed. Our U1661 is 8 years old and we've had the hinges replaced twice under extended warranty. The second time the hinges they supplied don't hold the door in this position and it will just drop straight down if you don't support it while you open it.
- Follow Door removal instruction from the manual. - There is a screw at the end of the hinge that can be adjusted. - Adjust the screw to desired height. - Secure lock nut.
