Why is my outdoor temperature as well as the outdoor reception signal is not coming up after new batteries in transmitter and receiver completed?

My outdoor temperature is showing - -.- Tried to do battery changes, still will not register

You must move the remote sensor close to the base unit to reset it and it will work fine. After it shows the temp then you can move it back to its location. thanks for asking at Fixya.com.

Hi Walter,

I found this in the manual, simply pressing the RESET button won't start communication again. Try this:

Your main unit displays current, minimum, and
maximum temperature and humidity readings
collected by the remote sensor and main unit.
Outdoor data is collected and displayed every
40 seconds and indoor data is collected and
displayed every 10 seconds.

The red LED flashes whenever the sensor
transmits an RF signal to the receiver.
select sensor or use auto scan

• Press CHANNEL to switch between
sensors 1-3.
• To auto-scan between sensors, press and hold
CHANNEL for 2 seconds. Each sensor's data
will be displayed for 3 seconds. To end autoscan,
press CHANNEL or MEMORY.
• Press and hold CHANNEL and MEMORY
simultaneously to search for remote sensors.
resetting the system
The RESET buttons are located on the back of the
main unit and sensor. Use a pointed subject to
press RESET when you change the batteries and
whenever the system malfunctions.

sometimes you have to sync the units again, look for a button on the indoor or outdoor unit that says 'sync' or 'connect'

Sometimes the RF frequency from the outside transmitter loses contact with the clock's frequency ( it has happened to me only twice in 6 years ), and then the outside temp will not show. Simple solution to fix this is: Take down the outside transmitter and the internally mounted clock. Remove batteries from both. Wait about 10 mts. First install batteries in the transmitter, then after about 30 seconds, install batteries in the clock. In about 5 mts, you will find the clock showing the external temp like before.

I put new batteries in Transmitter and never got any temp reading.The unit is less than 2 years old and is not working. Is there anything I can do?


  • Remove all batteries
  • Install new batteries in transmitter
  • Wait for transmitter to initialize and begin transmitting temperature data
  • Install known-good batteries in receiver
  • Observe outdoor temperature reading
If this doesn't work, the transmitter or receiver or both may be defective. I find in very cold weather the transmitter stops sending the temperature.

I have a model #WS-9037un-it with a model TX29Uremote transmitter. When I removed batteries there was a reading on it when I put in new batteries no temp. waited several hours.


  • Remove all batteries
  • Install known-good batteries in the transmitter. Wait for transmitter to initialize and begin sending temperature data
  • At the receiver, install known-good batteries. You should see outdoor temperature displayed

Model WS9611UN-IT - I am unable to receive the outdoor temperature. I have changed the batteries on the outside remote but I still do not receive the outdoor temperature. How can this be corrected


Remove all batteries, both outdoor and indoor. Install batteries in outdoor unit and wait for it to begin sending a temperature signal. Install batteries in indoor unit. You should see outdoor temperature displayed. If not, batteries, transmitter, or indoor unit may be defective.

Outdoor Temperature Transmitter not working


Sometimes, you have to remove all the batteries in the transmitter and receiver and wait a few minutes before the next step.

Then you replace transmitter batteries first and within 30 seconds, get the batteries installed in the receiver. This allows the receiver to link up with your transmitter. Both units need to be reset this way. You'll see the temperature and any other information the transmitter provides come up in a few minutes. This works with my La Crosse weather station. Using the reset buttons without removing power will not work. My nieghbour has a weather station from another manufacturer and this is also the only way that his will link up.

I have had that experience. You may have to repeat initial installation once more before concluding the system is n.g. Remove batteries from the indoor receiver. Review the instructions and verify transmitter was installed in correct location. Do this as you are removing transmitter batteries. For luck, install new batteries in the transmitter. At the receiver, reinstall batteries (or install new batteries). After approx. 10 min., you should see temperature displayed. My LaCrosse system has its wacky days, sometimes displaying no temperature or an abnormally high temperature when morning sun hits the transmitter. Also, successfully resetting is a once-in-a-blue-moon affair.

915MHz RECEPTION CHECK FOR OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR
The atomic clock will receive the temperature data within 3 minutes. If the temperature data is not being received 3 minutes after setting up (the display shows "- - -"), then please check the following points:
1. The distance of the atomic clock or outdoor temperature sensor should be at least 6 feet (2meters) away from any interfering sources such as computer monitors or TV sets.
2. Avoid placing the receiver onto or in the immediate proximity of metal window frames.
3. Using other electrical products such as headphones or speakers operating on the same signal frequency (915MHz) may prevent correct signal transmission and reception.
4. Neighbors using electrical devices operating on the 915MHz signal frequency can also cause interference.
Note:
When the 915 MHz signal is received correctly, do not re-open the battery cover of either the outdoor temperature sensor or atomic clock, as the batteries may spring free from the contacts and force a false reset. Should this happen accidentally then reset all units (see Setting up above) otherwise transmission problems may occur.
The maximum transmission range is 330 feet (100 meters) from the outdoor temperature sensor to the atomic clock (in open space). However, this depends on the surrounding environment and interference levels. If no reception is possible despite the observation of these factors, all system units have to be reset (see Setting up).

Remove ALL batteries in transmitter AND clock.
Insert new batteries in outdoor transmitter.
Insert new batteries in the (receiver) clock.
Wait until outdoor temperature is received AND displayed on clock BEFORE setting time/date/etc.

The new batteries could be defective or installed incorrectly. Remove all batteries and start over again. Be sure to let the transmitter initialize and begin sending data before you install the batteries in the receiver. If you can't receive a signal, the transmitter may have failed.

After replacing the transmitter batteries several times, I tried replacing the clock batteries. They must have been getting low. Once I put in new batteries in the clock it worked fine. Good Luck.
