Machine will not Fax either from glass or through document feeder. Failure message directs power turn off, then on. Still will not work. Technician recommends direct plug in to wall. This solution doesn't work, either.

I have the PSC 750 printer and I keep getting "scanner failure' when I try and scan or copy. I turn it off and then back on as it says, but I still get the error message. It seems that if I unplug it and wait at least 2 minutes, it will sometimes work for a couple of times, but then the same thing happens. I have tried re-dowloading the drivers with no resolve to this problem.

Clean the scanner head and glass

    Removing the scanner glass(D145)

    General
The Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) will need to be removed before the glass can be removed. You will also need a T10 Torx head driver approximately 6" long. Driver handles that accept removable bits may be too large in diameter for this particular job.

Removing the automatic document Feeder (ADF)
    1. Hinge the ADF upward as if you are going to manually scan a document.
    2. In the hinge area there is two black pull latches. Pull them up and lift the ADF straight up to remove it. Some side-to-side rocking may be necessary before it will disengage.

    Removing the Scanner Glass
    1. Remove the four T10 Torx head screws around the perimeter of glass, i.e. two in the ADF hinge area and one on the right and left.
    2. Remove the Control Panel overlay. It pries off.
    3. Open the printer as if you are going to access the cartridges and disengage the support legs. Two latches at the base of each leg must be pried outward with a slot style screwdriver to disconnect them. The scanner assembly will now "flop" freely, so steady it while removing the four screws on the underside.

Note: The screw in the front is hidden under the piece that you grasp to gain cartridge access. Two latches must be released to remove it. The screw can now be seen using a flashlight but may be obscured by some wires.

Clean the underside of the glass, giving particular attention to the white strip. Then clean the scanner bulb (gently, its thin glass) and the mirror(s) with a cotton swab sparingly moistened with Windex or a similar cleaner.

How do I solve the "scanner failure power off and on again" message for an h.p. 6110 officjet all-in-one printer/scanner/fax?

Hi Paul,

Scanner Failure usually results in Hardware Failure. However there is one step you can try. Try connecting the printer directly to wall outlet or any other power outlet and the issue should be resolved.

I keep getting a "Scanner Failure" error message every time I try to make a copy. I have tried all the trouble shooting the HP manual suggests but still no luck. Anyone know how to get rid of this...

This series of HP all-in-one units have a common problem that, over time, the exposure lamp. which is florescent, goes dim. The scanner looks for the right amount of light, and if it doesn't see it, it gives you the scanner failure. In some rare cases, you can dismantle and clean the mirrors and lens in the scanner, but most of the time it doesn't work.

Cannot get or send email on iphone. I get error message: username or password for imap.apple.mail.com incorrect. I deleted my account to set it up again. Now it won't allow me to set up account. Get same...

If the Apple email server was having a problem for a short period of time, this could have been the result, an error message about failing to be able to log you in. In which case waiting a short while and trying again, or trying from a different device (like a computer) to check would have been a good course of action ...
Usually if you have an email "address," meaning a username with an email provider, and you delete the entire account, they will not allow you to choose the same username again, it's gone forever.
If your email account is permanently deleted, can you set up a new one with a different, unique username?

Good luck!

LEXMARK X5150 CARTRIDGE ERROR

Try this --
Cartridge Error 50C
Your print cartridge has shorted.

  1. Power off your All-in-One and unplug it.
  2. Plug in your All-in-One again and turn it on.
  3. Uninstall and then reinstall your cartridges.
  4. If this does not resolve the issue, try the troubleshooting steps for the other cartridge errors below.
Cartridge Error
Complete the following instructions:
  1. Power off your All-in-One.
  2. Use both hands to lift up the scanner unit until the scanner support holds it open.

  5. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
  6. If the error message reappears, replace the black print cartridge with a new print cartridge.
If it does not repeat steps 1-3 and then go to step 7.
  7. Reinstall the color cartridge and remove the black print cartridge.
  8. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
  9. If the error message occurs again, replace the color cartridge.
  10. If an error message reappears, repeat steps 1-3 and reinstall both print cartridges.
  11. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
  12. If you receive the error message again, replace both cartridges

Won't scan nor fax

HP multi units are notorious for scanner failures. It is just a weak component in their machines. I have seen this time and time again. The only solution is to change the scanner out or purchase a different machine. Just keep in mind the notoriety HP has which failed scanners. If you want to venture into the replacement of the scanner the following website might have the product you are looking for. Otherwise, search around the net for a scanner assembly unit for the OJ7310. But, be prepared scanner units are not cheap.

Scanner Failure

The only thing I can surgest is that you check installed programs I found that the 750 is very fussy about being the only kid on the block. Maybe worth trying a commercial program that says it will remove "junk" from your hard drive
