It tries this about three times before completely shutting down. The TV never turns on, so no picture or sound (other than the sound of the TV attempting to power up and back down). Wondering what could be wrong and if it is an easy/inexpensive thing to fix. TV was manufacturing about 2009 (I think).
When was the last time you replaced the lamp? That sort of sounds like the ballast is unhappy with a bad lamp. The 57733 is a good TV. The other possibility is a stuck/dirty color wheel.
Check the lamp and see if it looks worn out(dark or grey in the tube down the center). Also make sure its either a Philips brand or Osram brand.
Let me know and Ill see what I can recommend next

This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input/device and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source) 1. SOURCE: Has Sound but no Picture and shuts down
I have the same tv and the same problem happened to me (Actualy twice). It turned out to be the color wheel motor. thats what the clicking noise is.
SOURCE: Mitsubishi WD-65733 no picture, electrical buzzes in series
What it sound's like is that the lamp ballast is the problem. Buzzing sounds like when the power is first brought to the ballast it has to ramp up the voltage to get the lamp to light, then the voltage drops back down when the lamp is lit. Sounds like the lamp ballast isn't ramping up the voltage the way it should. May have to replace it. A good service shop would be able to do this for you.
