SOURCE: need to find the ceramic fuse for my samsung 50"

Hello Dyan, Hi you can find one at any electrical or electronics shop that sells spare parts, But mind you the reason why the fuse blows in the first place, have the power supply board checked for shorts such as a shorted switching regulator. If in the event the replacement fuse blows again, there is definitely a shorted part. Have this checked by a technician.

Hello,

The power supply board of the television is dead, u know basic electronics' and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

I hope this will help in solving the problem....

SOURCE: how do I test the y-sustain main board from a

Hi.

As such boards are cheap and fail quite easily (both the two sustain and the buffers) Philips service manuals are more oriented at board swapping then at proper testing. In this particular case the buffer boards fail very easily because of a bad soldering to IC. The short will regularly blow the main sustain board.

To start when a main sustain (e.g. Ysus) is fried the TV will go in protect mode with the led flashing in standby. One test is done disconnecting the Sus board (with power off) and restarting the TV. If TV does not go in protect, then the sustain board was good.

If there is no protection:

The first thing to check on a main sustain board is the fuse. If the fuse has blown the IC is probably fried.I believe fuse is F5004. Check for swollen capacitors that may have blown. Test the FET. That is the core of the board as it is the power amplifier.

Here the service manual:PHILIPS_SM_15540.pdf - Right Click "Save Target As"

Here a more useful service manual. Check and follow troubleshooting diagrams in manual.

Here some troubleshooting from users.

Note:if buffer board was shorted, then the main sustain board is usually faulty.

Regards.

Buenas tengon un tv Panasonic plasma th-42px80u y no tengo pesente los 187 y 130 voltios de la placa fuente. Donde pudiera ser el problema?

If you're not getting the expected voltages (187V and 130V) from the source board of your Panasonic TH-42PX80U plasma TV, there could be several potential reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:
  1. Check Power Outlet and Cable: Ensure that the power outlet you're using is functional and providing the correct voltage. Also, make sure the power cable connecting your TV to the outlet is in good condition and properly plugged in.
  2. Inspect the Source Board: The source board is responsible for providing power to various components of the TV. Inspect the board for any visible signs of damage, such as burnt components, bulging capacitors, or loose connections.
  3. Check Fuses: The source board might have fuses that protect against voltage irregularities. Check if any of these fuses have blown, and if they have, replace them with fuses of the same type and rating.
  4. Voltage Regulator Components: The source board contains components like voltage regulators that regulate the voltage to different parts of the TV. If a voltage regulator has failed, it could result in the incorrect voltage output. Check for any damaged or overheated voltage regulator components.
  5. Power Supply Unit (PSU): The power supply unit is a common culprit for voltage-related issues. It's responsible for converting incoming power to the various voltages needed by the TV's components. If the PSU is faulty, it could lead to voltage problems. Consider inspecting or replacing the power supply unit.
  6. Test Components: If you have the necessary skills and equipment, you can test individual components on the source board using a multimeter. This can help identify faulty components that might be causing the voltage issues.
  7. Consult a Professional: If you're not comfortable performing these tasks yourself, or if you're unable to diagnose and fix the issue, it's recommended to consult a professional TV repair technician. They have the expertise and tools needed to diagnose and repair complex electronic issues.
Remember, working with electronics can be dangerous, especially if you're not familiar with the proper safety procedures. If you're unsure about any step, it's best to seek professional assistance to avoid personal injury or further damage to your TV.

Panasonic Viera TH-42PZ80U Plasma TV wont turn on from the control or switch

Power supply is of course first suspect here. Some general information:

I see so many here with no sound/nopicture issues:

ISSUES:

1. IF sound main fuse/s are good.
2. If no power or standby check main fuse, standby power supply and any signsof damage you can see---burnt parts etc.
3. almost all these sets the troubleshooting involves checking voltages on the main power board to narrow down theproblem.
4. Be safe and if you do not know what you are doing don't open the set.

Answers to issues:

1. RE:fuses---if a blown fuse is found get a good replacement(not the genericones like Radio Shack). Many fuses are special even aside from amperage--Don'tput a higher rated amperage fuse in the set for any reason.

2. RE: power supply in set: if total dead aside from main fuse the set uses astandby power supply that runs 7/24 and a main supply (some are combined andsome not.

Here aside from checking fuses you want to examine all the filter caps on thepower/standby to see if any are puffed up or buldged up in some fashion--Iattach a photo of a good one---top should be silver metal and PERFECTLY flatand have no brown material coming out on top or bottom.

What happens in the standby area is they use caps with too low a voltage rating(saves money) which causes them to fail in a year or two---the standby runs7/24 and the heat dries out the caps and they fail.

3. Trouble shooting consists of the above and then at some point you have to buyand try a board to see if it fixes it or not.

4. Safety first--no TV set is worth getting injured or even killed over.If set is opened at least look for puffed up and bad caps like in thisphoto.

Is it possible to change fuse on panasonic hi def plasma th50px75u tv. if so what are the fuses and where located?

They should be fuse(s) in the power board and or the Y Board.
When the fuse goes bad it means other component(s) are bad which made the fuse to go bad.
You can try but, just be very carefull use only the same fuse.

My advise is to call a repairman.

This information is for someone that knows electronic.
1000s of volts inside the TV that can kill. Even if you unplug the TV the high voltage can be stored inside the TV for days.

Best of luck.

I have a panasonic th-42px80u, i turned it on and there was a pop and a flash from the back of the tv. It will not power up and have no red light. ive taken apart and inspected power supply board for burn...

Look for a fried (possibly exploded) transistor or diode on the power supply board. In particular, look at the transistor mounted on a heat sink (metal radiator block) between the fuse and the largest transformer on the board. It may also have a damaged regulator chip driving it. Modern TV sets operated by remote controls generally have the power supply split into two sections - standby and main. Your problem is most likely in the main section.

A voltage sniffer won't tell you much - most sets have power right up to the fuse on the power supply board. If the fuse is blown, don't bother replacing it until you find out what blew it - you'll just waste another fuse. I generally start by doing ohmmeter checks (power disconnected!) on the diodes and transistors - anything reading less than 1 Ohm is probably fried or is being shorted through a transformer winding by another fried component. Other readings must be interpreted according to the circuit design.

My panasonic television's power light is flashing. Model TH-42PZ8OU The television won't respond to controlers or power button. Please help

Power supply or main board would cause this problem. You will need to check the caps on the power supply and test the voltages. If power supply is good replace the main board.
