Garage door opener will not continue to open garage door.

If I press the garage door open on the main pad it will start to open, then reverse and go back to the original position and the light goes on and off 10 times. I have adjusted the force and that did not seem to do anything. If I continue to hold the button down on the pad, then the door will continue to travel and if I take my finger off the button when it is closed it stays closed. Pushing the button and removing my finger will now cause normal operation of the door closing. My unit is a model 1160 LM and does have have light sensors at the door. It will reverse automatically when it hits something. If I unhook the trolley from the garage door it responds the same way, so it does not appear that my problem is from a binding door. Can anyone help?

It seems like you are prescribing the standard solution for my problem, but as I explained in my post the problem is that I have no small lights (sensors) on either side of the door. My door reverses from the the amount of pressure when it hits something. Yet I can completely free up the door by releasing the trolly and when I hit the button on opener pad to active the motor it starts to close for about 1 foot and then immediately reverses unless I continue to hold the button on pad in.

You are right about it being my problem, but I am using the same garage door opener that I put new gears into. It did not have door sensors before and it worked.

You say your door won't open and then you say your door won't close. Anyway you have a door sensor problem. Make sure they are pointed at one another and the small light on each one is lit and not flickering. If you tweak them and the lights don't come on then you have either a wiring problem or a bad logic board.

If the main light goes on and off 10 times you have a door sensor problem. If you have no door sensors then that is your problem.

If the main light flashes 10 times when the door reverses to the open position it is your door sensors. Make sure the small light on each one is lit and not flickering. Tweak them a little. If you cannot get both lights to come on you have bad sensors.

Garage door opener does not close with remote. It will only close when you press the garage button

If the main light flashes 10 times when the door reverses to the open position it is a door sensor problem. Make sure the small light on each sensor is lit and not flashing ever so slightly. Garage door move a foot, then reverses and light flicks

If the main light flashes 10 times when the door reverses it is a door sensor problem. Each of them has a small light that is on when the sensors are properly aligned. Make sure they are on. If not tweak the sensors to align them. If the light still doesn't come on you have either a bad sensor or the wiring going to them.

Garage door opener

I was having a problem with the remotes. Program one remote, and the other stops working and vice-versa. I found the solution to be as follows: Using 61LM single-button remotes for Lift-master WhisperDrive (belt drive) garage door opener, I set the dipswitches (find them by removing battery replacement cover) to identical settings in both remotes. Set the first dipswitch to the neutral (0) setting. Next -- and this is the important part -- press the learn button on the main door opening unit, and, while the small LED light is lit, press the button on ONE of the remotes. DO NOT REPEAT ON THE SECOND REMOTE. Upon doing this, I found that BOTH remotes at last worked. I then went on to program a keyless entry pad, which was accomplished by again pressing the learn button on the main unit, and then entering the number sequence I had chosen for my entry code on the keypad, and pressing Enter. Both remotes continued to function and the keypad functions as well.
