IF the format of the hard disk is failing after 58% it is likely there are bad sectors.
If you have a working PC then you download the Seagate windows or DOS disk diagnostics software from this site and install it. Run the program and test the hard disk following the instructions that come with the software.
If you do not have another working PC, then you will have to buy a new hard drive and install it.

I think low level formatting should do the trick. you can download it and its free. In your case try to download the DOS based version. This type of formatting erases the entire disk clean.
If you purchased a retail version of this hard drive from seagate they included a CD. On that cd are tools you can run diagnostics from and it can also tell you if it can make the necessary repairs. Hi the problem u are facing right now in ur pen drive is due to virus infection in ur pen drive. Whenever u insert ur pen drive to a pc it will ask for this"Disk is not formeted & do u want to format it" option.. To solve this problem format ur pen drive by right clicking and selecting format option or scan ur pen drive with updated version of antivirus...
