I have a Whirlpool Cbrio top load washer. it won't start it's cycle. Once it senses the load, the lock lid light flashes and it does nothing. can this be fixed?

I would say that the lock has failed. Either the lock itself or maybe the pin or latch that fits into it when you close the door may have cracked / broken. If the machine thinks the door / lid is still open, it wont let you start it.

Brand new Whirlpool WTW4800XQ out of box . Set up plugged in , loaded load pushed start lid locked hummed lid lock started flashing. waited till lid lock went off Still nothing

Before you attempt to do anything please check if the drum lock is removed, check the power plug, connect the water line inlet. and finally check the settings of the program.
Read through the manual and DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DO ANY REPAIR AS BEING A NEW SET you have warranty.
Call your dealer if the set hums even after the initial checks were done.

My washer says du and it wont come on! the door lock keeps clicking like its tring to lock but cant

The F30 error code will flash when the dispenser motor cannot be driven to its proper position.

Door Unlock Error

A Door Unlock Error occurs if the door cannot be unlocked.
It will try to unlock the door 6 times before displaying the error.

Door Lock Mechanism broken.
Check Door Lock/Switch Assembly for foreign objects
Check Wire Harness connections to the Door Lock/Switch Assembly and Central Control Unit (CCU)
Door Lock/Switch Assembly Failure

If it is a cabrio:
dU flashes if the following conditions occur:
Excessive force on door lid is preventing lock bolt from retracting.
Wash media buildup is preventing lock bolt from retracting.
Machine/motor control cannot determine if door lid is in an unlocked state.

TEST #8 Door Lid Lock
Perform the following checks if washer fails to lock (or unlock).
1. Perform Manual: Door Switch and Manual: Door Lid Lock tests.
2. Remove the console to access the machine/ motor control assembly. See Accessing & Removing the Electronic Assemblies.
3. Visually check that the P12 connector is inserted all the way into the machine/motor control. If visual check passes, go to step 4. If visual check fails, reconnect P4 and repeat step 1.
4. Check the lid lock motor winding and switches by removing P12 from the machine/ motor control and checking the
resistance values....

Component/Resistance Unlocked/Resistance Locked/Contacts Measured/Contacts Measured:

Motor Winding/35 ±5 O/35 ±5 O/P12-2/P12-3/
Lock Switch - Home/0 O/Open Circuit/P12-1/P12-4
Lock Switch - Lock/Open Circuit/0 O/P12-1/P12-7
Lock Switch - Lid/Lid Closed = 0 OLid Open = Open Circuit/Lid Closed = 0 O Lid Open = Open Circuit/P12-1/P12-5

If resistance values are good, go to step 5. If switch measurements do not match the values shown in the table for unlocked (or locked) conditions, a problem
exists in the door lid lock. Replace the door lid lock.
5. If the Manual: Door Switch or Manual: Door Lid Lock in step 1 failed, then the machine/motor control has failed: Unplug washer or disconnect power.
Replace machine/motor control assembly. Perform the Manual: Door Switch and Manual: Door Lid Lock in step 1 to verify repair.

The machine went through a cycle and stopped in the middle of a rinse cycle. Trying to restart, the red lock symbol kept lighting up and would hear the lid lock mechanism activate. Tried switching machine...

if the lid lock is activating then testing it electrically wont help. you say that the lid lock is working when you manually put the lid lock in the closed position., is that correct?if it is, does the machine work on the spin cycle once you have manually activated the lid lock? have you checked for damage to lid? please reply 4 more help.

I have a letter showing and it say O D WHAT IS THIS MEAN

od error code description from the Service Manual for the FAV6800A/FAV9800A; Open the Lid: The lid has not been opened for the last three completed cycles.

If only it were that easy to fix.

The FAV6800AW/FAV9800AW Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.

See page 13 of the Service Manual for a list of the error codes and their meaning.

I feel you have lost Lid Open/Lid Closed signaling to the Control Board from the Left Hand Lid Lock assembly. If you remove the Left Hand lid lock assembly I believe you will find a broken wire to the magnetic read relay or severe corrosion on the input and output pins in the Left Hand Lid Lock assembly.

Take a look at this link Left Hand Lid Lock Troubleshooting and see if it will help with troubleshooting and repair.

You will find a part number for the Left Hand lid lock and parts supply vendor links if you decide to purchase the Left Hand Lid lock.

I would do some troubleshooting by removing the Left Hand Lid lock and inspecting before a part purchase………Rich
