My Shinco DVD player does not play the DVD. The Player turns on but just does not place the DVD. I'm wondering if the little pilot light may have blown and is it worth fixing. Louise Curtis [email protected]

How about cleaning using compressed air( it looks like an aerosol paint can)? Cleaning using cotton buds will only clean the outer side of lens, compressed air in can will clean the inner side of the lens. its like cleaning you computer keyboard, ( actually compressed air in can are used to clean the keyboards). A 30psi pressure of clean air is enough to wipe the dirt out of dvd lenses.

Bummer. If it is hinged does moving the screen up and down make a difference picture?

get a splitter that allows you to plug 2 sets of headphones in the portable dvd player.
The sound is the only place were this machine falls short. The sound is okay at best with the built in speakers, but any background noise makes it nearly impossible to hear anything from them even with the volume all the way up. Not surprising since due to the size of the player the speakers are only a little bigger then headphone speakers, but with headphones or portable plug-in speakers the sound is superb. Besides the sound the only 2 complaints are that you can not control the volume with the remote and that the power switch is too easily turned on by accident (do not travel with the battery attached or you will find you have no charge when it comes time to watch a movie). The battery lasts 3.5 to 4 hours, long enough for 2 short movies or 1 long one.

also checkout The volume button is on the right side of the uint.

, headphones are a must, or get a device to play the audio through your car stereo ($15-$25). The player has the option to either input or output the A/V so you could play video games on the run or you could hook up a VCR and watch VHS...be creative

try lightly pushing the small white button at top right hand corner of touch pad a few times, I have found this normally brings the screen to life again
