Occasionally, the charger might show blinking red right to indicate bad batteries. ... This indicates that the battery already have a full charge. If charging is needed, briefly drain the batteries before trying again. If the light blinks red in about 90 seconds after battery insertion, then the battery voltage is too low.
It seems to me the most obvious thing to look at would be the power switch. I don't think impact would damage the battery unless it cracked or punctured it - and I assume it hasn't since you haven't mentioned that.
Have you checked the switch itself for any damage, and made sure it's making contact when it's switched, and traced the leads from the switch back to the board - or even all the way to the battery? I think you'll find your problem somewhere in there.
The smaller battery should be for storing long term memory - i.e. any configurable settings. Even if that was dead, the camera would still turn on, it just wouldn't remember any settings.
As in the first part of the manual is explained, when you have inserted the battery correct and you then plug in the charger, the charger light should go on. When the light is out, the battery is charged. When the light blinks, your battery is fault.
When the light does not go on, when you plug it in a power outlet, the battery is not inserted correct, or the contacts are dirty.
If you want to clean the contacts, please only use a dry cloth. Never us a sharp tool. It would damage the contacts bend repair.
Even when you plug in the charger, with a fully loaded battery, the light should go on for only a few moments.
Make sure the power outlet works normally. and the power cable is not defect.
I had a Fuji camera which did similar. It turned out to be a defective component inside the camera. Fuji do a repair service where you contact them for an estimate before repair. If the camera is old, it may not be worth the cost and cheaper to buy a later model. Sorry
At this point you can only trust Fuji that they are correct in what they are saying in that the camera is fine which leaves only the power source you are using. I'm a bit confused as to what you have written. You said you put Duracell in it and left it to charge. To my knowledge and I may be reading this incorrectly it appears to me you are installing batteries in the camera and possibly hooking up the USB download cable expecting the camera to charge the batteries. The camera has no charging capabilities and rechargeable batteries need to be charged in a separate device made specifically for this function. I also know that some chargers come with a clear plastic guard over the + (positive) terminals and if you do not remove this plastic part there is no way the batteries can be charges. The charging lights come on and will remain on but no charge will enter the batteries. Maybe a quick test would be if you have a flashlight that takes AA batteries you place them in there and turn the flashlight on. Once you have confirmed that there is battery power then insert the batteries into the camera make sure they are in the correct placement (orientation) Here is a picture of the correct battery placement.
This diagram is found on page 13 of your owners manual
Another diagram I'm including is what the camera will show as the battery state of charge. This is found on page 15
If you can turn on the camera while charging you can see the charging indicator on the LCD monitor which will indicate the level of charge the battery is currently at.
Fuse F351 has possibly blown on the board. It is a 2.5A 32v UL type surfacemount fuse which is soldered to the board. The fuse has a coded letter on it for identification. Recomend you find someone who knows electronics to repair
The symptom of light staying on briefly then going off suggest the battery is dead. If you bought a new battery did you put it in correctly? turn it around and try again.
Check the manual for indications of error.
Look for a reset to factory settings option.
Switch off and remove batteries
Take the memory card out and carefully cleane the contacts, now wrap a piece of paper atround the card in such a way that you have a frip on the paper an insert it and work it up and down thus polishing the chamber contacts.
