Picture has blackish coverings that move across the screen ... those areas can not be seen well. Comes & goes. We turn it off for a bit & then it works fine but comes back.

Sounds like The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.

It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device; in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

There's a picture on the screen, but it has lines all across it.Sometimes it will be clear, but most of the time it has lines. I also have directv, but they've installed a new box. Is this my television...

Hello
If the lines are there, and are across the screen at about an inch apart the whole screen from top to bottom, it is due to a slight increase in your TVs screen votage. It can be adjusted.
Open the back cover of your TV. There is an LOT [Line Output Transformer], can be seen directly soldered to the printed circuit boar of your TV. It is the largest component inside your TV, which have usually three wires emerging from it, and one thhick wire goes to the final anode of the picture tube, and will seem to be sticked to the top of the picture tube with the help of a rubber ******. Other two wires goes to the base card of the picture tube, a circuit board.
The said [LOT] has two controls integrated on it facing you as you open the TV. Among the top one is focus control, and the bottom one is screen control. Both of them are variable resistors, help to adjust focus and screen voltages respectively.
As set powered on, keeping the brightness, contrast and colour controls to its minimum, turn the screen control a little bit counterclockwise [not more, a little bit] will eleiminate the lines on your TV screen.
Take every precautions we have to, when working with an electrical equipment. Keep children away from you while you are working on it. Never allow them even to come beside you. Keep an adult beside you as a precautionary measure. Ok.
Wish you all sucess.

Canon Pixma MP780. Recently my color ink

Have you checked to see if the jet area on the bottom of the ink cartridge has a blackish sludge on them? It might be that the area that the print cartridges are purged/cleaned to one side of the printer (sometimes called a service station, or spitoon) has built up excess ink that has gotten thick and high enough that as the carriage goes over that area the bottom of the cartridge gets polluted with the blackish sludge. It will work slightly into the jets where the ink comes out and cause discoloration, even after you change the color cartridge. Open the unit to look inside with a flashlight for build ups and clean it (if you find some) with disposable things like cotton swabs, coffee stirrers, whatever you have that wont damage anything inside. Another cause could be mixing of the cyan and magenta and yellow somehow inside making a dark color representing black - but replacing the cartridge would cure it immediately.

Projection guns not working

I've seen a lot of vertical problems on those older mitsu's. If it has been intermitant some of those would get bad solder connections on the deflection yoke ( the transformer slid up on the neck of the picture tubes) ther are three and it could be any one. the thing about it is you have to slide it down and take it apart to get to the area that would get the bad connections. If you do not know what you are doing the setup afterwards could be a mess. This is the first thing that comes to mind but be warned there are many many possibilities for what you are describing. good luck
