A Lionel 1130 is a "Scout" type locomotive....they are not particularly valuable even to collectors. They were a part of the low end starter sets Lionel made. Now if you had a similar vintage 736 Berkshire or a 681 or 682 Turbine they are worth considerably more.

SOURCE: why is the locomotive sparking while going on the track

Sparky's is a common nickname & one
of the joys of our track powered trains.
Clean your wheels and track, it will help
lessen the sparking. Also make sure
your track is level without gaps
between the track sections.
hope this helps.

Changed batteries in Brio train (mighty red locomotive) and still does not turn on. It was used for about an hour and stopped working abruptly.

I had the same problem with one old locomotive. There are three things to check:
  1. the main power slide switch is set on the rigth position
  2. on the bottom of the loco, there a small red bump, it is perhaps blocked in the pushed position
  3. this one was the solution for me. Dismantle the battery cap and make sure that both metallical parts are in contact.

How is Bachmann's Blue Comet's locomotive powered. We were just given a set. The tender & each car take 1 9v battery but I know there must be more.

The backhead on the boiler inside the cab of the locomotive opens up and you install cell batteries into the boiler to run the locomotive..

Lionel battery operated g scale locomotive will not move

Replace all batteries in locomotive & remote.
You do need to be fairly close to the set with the
remote for it to work.

Strasburg steam locomotive receives power, but does not move.

Try cleaning the track AND wheels with an INK ERASER. Put the engine on the track and help it along. It could just be tight from sitting in the box. I live about 8 miles from the Strasburg railroad and have 2 relatives working there. We have ALL experienced the same thing on4 different sets. It isn't just the Strasburg sets that do this, it's most of the new toys. Your Strasburg cars might not connect to other train sets. Their car couplings are different, just like on their real trains.

Want to sell my first generation Big Hauler G scale set. Pristine. In original box. Complete with extra track. How much is it worth?

The Generation 1 Locomotive, is of minimal value.
Best bet if you want to sell the set is to part it out and sell the cars separately.Locomotive, & tender w/rc transmitter ~ $15.00 - $25.00Cars ~ $20.00 - $25.00Track ~ $2.00 - $2.50 per section. If sold as a set, probably would be lucky to get ~ $50.00

I bought the 6-30089 Pennsylvania Flyer Train Set last year. It's been in storage in the original box in a cool, dry place since last Christmas. I put it together, but it will not run. There is power to...

Hope you got the set working. If not, look underneath the locomotive near the rear (under the "cabin"). There are two switches, one on either side. One says "Smoke", the other says "Reverse". If the "Reverse" switch was set to "Off" when the locomotive was in Neutral, it will stay in neutral even when the power is cycled or the "Direction" button is pressed on the power supply. Even in Neutral, all the lights will work and I believe the smoke element will heat up but won't puff. Whatever setting the "Reverse" switch is on, try changing it to se if that works. Hope this helps...
