SOURCE: Minolta EW501 Electronic Typewriter switch problem
A totally dead machine is usually the easiest to find the problem. Make sure the outlet works. Test it by plugging in a lamp or fan or something. Once you are sure the outlet works make sure the cord is not cut or pinched. Most machines have a micro switch that turns off the machine if the cover is open. I don’t know this machine but check that the cover is properly closed. See if you can find the switch, and try to determine if it is being activated. Some manufactures have a plastic “tab” that hits the switch when the cover is closed. Those tabs can get broken off.
Last suggestion would be to look for a blown fuse. Again seeing that I am unfamiliar with this model I don’t know it the fuse is in the back cover if it’s no there (near the power cord) chances are that you will have to remove the cover (not open the lid). This means you will have to pull out a screwdriver. BE SURE TO UNPLUG THE POWER CORD!!! If the fuse is inside it would likely be near where the power cord.
