SOURCE: Minolta EW501 Electronic Typewriter switch problem

A totally dead machine is usually the easiest to find the problem. Make sure the outlet works. Test it by plugging in a lamp or fan or something. Once you are sure the outlet works make sure the cord is not cut or pinched. Most machines have a micro switch that turns off the machine if the cover is open. I don’t know this machine but check that the cover is properly closed. See if you can find the switch, and try to determine if it is being activated. Some manufactures have a plastic “tab” that hits the switch when the cover is closed. Those tabs can get broken off.

Last suggestion would be to look for a blown fuse. Again seeing that I am unfamiliar with this model I don’t know it the fuse is in the back cover if it’s no there (near the power cord) chances are that you will have to remove the cover (not open the lid). This means you will have to pull out a screwdriver. BE SURE TO UNPLUG THE POWER CORD!!! If the fuse is inside it would likely be near where the power cord.

How to change pitch on wheelwriter

The printwheel determines what the pitch is on the wheelwriters. A 10 pitch printwheel will only print in 10 pitch and a 12 pitch printwheel will only print in 12 pitch. Same with a 15 pitch or a PS (proportional spacing) printwheel.

The flywheel from my brother ml300 typwriter came off and i don't know how to put it back on

I assume by "flywheel", you are referring to the "printwheel" which is removable from the typewriter by unlatching the print hammer mechanism by pulling the black lever on the right side of the print hammer towards the front of the machine. To install the printwheel, drop the printwheel in its cartridge with the letters facing the paper, then push the print hammer assembly towards the paper to the latched position. Turn on machine, and the printwheel will spin and "home". If printwheel homing is not correct, repeat above procedure with slightly more pressure when latching the printwheel. (The printwheel must latch on to its drive spindle securely). Good Luck

How do you reset printwheel?

The printwheel "homes" everytime the power is turned on. There are many causes of the printwheel losing it's homing during printing. Check that nothing is interfering with the printwheel spinning, like the correction tape, or ribbon. Type slowly and observe the movement ot the hammer to make sure the hammer returns to it's home position every time, if not the machine must be repaired (to retime the hammer cam) . You can removed and reinstall the printwheel to make sure it is seated on its' drive spindle securely. checke that the is no foreign material in the bottom of machine.

How do i change font on brother EM -530 typewriter

This typewriter uses a "printwheel" In order to change tye typestyle (font) you must change (purchase) a different printwheel. To change the printwheel, pull the lever on the RH side of th print hammer towards the front of the machine and lift the clear plastic cartridge UP. . Contact Brother International for a printwheel or Yellow pages for a local dealer.
