SOURCE: I have a Pioneer DV

Hi edwardm1,

If you are only hearing part of the audio from your DVD player, I would suggest you check your audio settings before seeking repairs.

Audio can be encoded to a DVD in several ways. If the audio on the disc is different than the settings on your DVD player, you may not hear all of the audio layers. For example, if your DVD is encoded in 5.1 Surround Sound, but your DVD player is set only to play basic Stereo, you may only hear portions of the audio.

Try accessing the menu on your DVD player, and look for the audio settings. If there is a higher setting available than is currently selected, try a higher audio setting. A higher setting should also be compatible with lower types of audio encoding.

If this does not improve your audio, or if you need help navigating your product menus, I would recommend giving Pioneer's toll-free support line a call at (800) 421-1404.

Thank you,
Jason,

SOURCE: i cant hear sound from a dvd player,

This is gong to sound lame because I don't know the answer but I can point you in the right direction. The same thing happened when I got my new TV, but that was years ago. If you have you TV set to broadcast in surround sound, it sends the talking to a "fifth" speaker in the middle of the room. The background sounds, like thunder and gunshots, are sent to the speakers that project out into the room, so it sounds like the background sound is all around you. HOWEVER if you do not have a surround-sound speaker system, there is no fifth speaker for the voices to go to. Now, i don't remember what the settings are called, but I'll bet if you call the store where you got your tv they can tell you.

My Denon AVRX3100 works fine with my Dish Network TV. The Panasonic DVD player (attached to either DVD or Blueray inputs) only has partial sound. The movie background music plays but not the voices.

Your denon amp amp does not match and work well
in some players for instance "Samsung" no pictures
and sound via HDMI input. Only replacing players
to another brand such as LG can fix the problem.

Audio seems weak...how to increase volume

this is gotta be the largest complaint I hear from folks when they get a new flat screen , its not loud enough or the sound sounds muffled

flat screens are flat ! so theres no good way for mfg to put the speakers facing forward so sound has to hit the wall behind it first then gets directed forward to you ! (low/muffled)

sound bars help with this , but for true rich sound , id go with a video receiver amp combo , some of these even have built in dvd players , and arrange its speakers in a forward facing direction

Need help with my suround sound system

try wiggling the cords.i think it's open from the inside of the cord.sometimes attaching and pulling cords is the cause of no sound at all.check your cords for open.you can use a battery and a small lamp and wires.make a circuit of a lamp.then, get one wire from the small flashbulb and use it as a probe.the wire from the battery is the other.hook it up to your cords touching the one end ,like completing the circuit.if the bulb lights up it means it's ok and if not, your cord is open.

I have an LG 752 DVD player but when playing pre-recorded DVD films on it you can't hear the actors very well. All speakers seem to be working okay and it all seems to be properly connected. The actors...

Be sure to match the speaker cables to the appropriate terminal on the components: + to + and - to -. If the cables are reversed, the sound will be distorted and lack base.

Also, adjust the sound mode through the menu button on the remote.

I hope this help :)

No voice sound through speaker with DVD system, only music?

first check the settings on the audio menu of the dvd player. make sur it is set to 5.1 (if available) otherwise set it to stereo and your system should decode it.
assuming the second step is okay : as other dvd you play seem to work) it still may be that your unit is decoding stereo inputs just fine and 5.1 is not working properly....
so if adjusting audio settings in dvd play back menu dont work,
check that the cables to the satellite speakers are connected correctly and all plugged in soundly ( voice is high frequency,- coming from satellites - the garbled noises you hear are the base ( low freq) elements of voice which are coming from the bass box ( that the X.1 part of 5.1) and so that is obviously working. ,
