New Dremel 300 stopped working. What's wrong?

Something amazing just happened! On my monitor screen, window popped up that said, "ASK A QUESTION - LET OUR EXPERTS SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM FOR FREE".

I couldn't resist getting expert advice for free, so I clicked on the window. I was immediately taken to a magical world where I can pay for expert advice. I opted not to pay for expert advice. The next day, I was asked if the help I received was helpful. So here I am posting this response. I haven't received any expert advice yet, but when I do....!

Dremel Scrollstation 1800 motor fault

There seems be problems with the electrical systems of the Dremel 1800 scroll stations (had same problem)
Speedcontroller burns out and DC motor gets hit by Main AC voltage.
Earth leakige due to low resistance between DC motor Rotor and earth (flowing current to earth)
Measure rotor copper connections to earth to check for low resistance, should be very high.
Biggest problem is that the main metal body under full main voltage comes and this is a dangerous situation!!!!!!!

All to fix is to repalce (both) fauly parts,
Motor Controller and DC motor

Hope this helps

I have a Dremel Single Speed Model 275 that belonged to my Dad. It suddenly won't turn on the end even though the motor is running at full speed. When I take my fingers and twist the end, it starts to turn...

The Dremel 275 (and other series) have a plastic coupler and spline that connect the motor shaft to the collet shaft (where the tools attach). The plastic fatigues and disintegrates, causing the collet shaft to stop, even if the motor is still running. The fix is about $5.00 --- two parts from Dremel. The 275 case is a **** shell that opens with the removal of six T-10 Torx screws.

You need to replace the variable speed control switch. Other than that, your not doing anything wrong. Have fun
