Burners on gas stove work but oven and broiler not working

Gas burners working but now oven/broiler does not work. I thought I had a pilot light but the middle of the stove seems cold.
My electric cord is unplugged but I thought that only was for the clock and timer.

No, it did not work. I cannot even hear gas going into the oven?

Never had this problem before and I used my oven two days ago. The stove is about 10 years old.

Most ovens, unless they have an electric igniter (does it go tick tick tick when plugged in and turned on? If so, it has an electic ignition.) have a pilot light. In order to keep gas from flowing out, and to prevent a possible explosion when the pilot light has gotten put out, they have an electric thermocouple on them that shuts off the gas when it gets cold. Plug the cord back in, and relight your pilot light by holding the lighter (I recommend a fireplace match or bbq lighter, not a cigarette lighter to prevent singed knuckle hairs!) over the thermocouple for a couple of minutes.

Our 17year old GE gas oven/broiler stopped lighting today. What might be the problem? Stove burners work.

Most likely culprit is the igniter.
When you turn the oven on it opens a gas valve allowing a small amount of gas to flow thru the pilot light. The igniter then lights the pilot and when the sensor determines the pilot is lit it opens th emain gas valve and the oven lights. If the igniter fails and doesn't light the pilot the sensor doesn't heat up and it shuts down the pilot and nothing works.
The igniter is usually accessable under the oven by removing the drawer. It has a single wire attached and looks like a short cigarette made of ceramic witha metal tip.
You didn't provide model number so I can't give you part number but if you look it up here you may be able to get one from Sears

The broiler and the burners all light but the oven doesn't.

If the glowbar is light up then you have a circuit and all components are working. So Houston why don't we have ignition? Today's new fangled ovens use silicone carbide ignition. The oven safety valve has a bi-metal inside it. In order for it to open and allow gas to flow the resistance in the circuit must change. As that glowbar heats up it changes the resistance in the circuit. If it can pull 3.5 amps or better then that bi-metal will open allow gas to hit the burner. That is yall's built in safety feature. If a glowbar looks real dim and takes a while to come on if at all then it is weak. Whirlpool also has another type of oven that uses a safety valve with a thermocouple attached to it. A pilot light is on all the time on these and no power is needed to operate this stove. Over time the thermocouples cooper-nickel tip will wear out and won't hold the oven safety valve open. Other variations of this is a standby pilot and electronic spark pilot and a flame switch added onto a safety valve. Newer models use a computer board along with AC power to fire the igniters and DC power to open the distribution valve. Your broiler is working so I am sure your stove ain't got the DSI ignition system and you have not mentioned anything about a pilot light so I am assuming you simply have a weak glowbar.

Gas stove top works, broiler works, oven does not

is it electronic iginition? are you asking about top burner pilots? if so there are under the top in the middle beteen each side of the burners 1 pilot does burners on right and 1 on left. oven pilots are underneath you have to remove bottom door look in there at back and look up and you'll see it. if its a electronis ignition range you have no pilots!! glow coils and sparkers....

My gas was recently shut off for repairs from the gas company, now its back on and i dont know how to get my oven or stove back on

Ok you did not mention if your oven or stive had pilot lights or igniters. Given you asked the question how too turn it back on I have to assume it does not have electronic igniters. You need to light the pilot lights. There are 2 in top that are between each of the 2 burner sets. If you can not gain access to the pilot light by lifting the top of the stove up you can use a fire starter type lighter and re-light them. Sometimes they will self light if you just use a match on the burners.
As for the oven you can gain access 2 ways to the pilot light. One is to unlatch and remove the oven lower inside panel. The pilot light will be near the burner head. Just light it. The other is to remove the broiler drawer and reach way back in there to light the pilot light.

Again if you have igniter ignition all you have to do is turn on a burner or the oven. Good Luck.

Where is the pilotlight on a ge xl44 gas stove I belive it is in the door under the oven well I turned the gas on and stuck a flame down there and nothen took off is there a certian place to put the flame....

In general lets be clear. The OVEN pilot is located under the oven door at the top of the Broiler. It is a small piece of metal just before the GAS safety Valve which acts on temperature so gas won't flow unless Pilot is lit,That's the OVEN PILOT.The stove's RANGE is the top burners where you heat Pots and Pans.It has either 2 Pilot lights that connect the burners to the Flame they are under the Range Top.Newer Models use electronic ignitions no flame. Please note if you had your stove/oven disconected or Gas off when you turn it back on there will be air in the line that needs to escape before you light. This is why in NYC when Utility Co.works on steet main the MUST re-light your appliances.Be Careful with Gas.Good Luck.

KENMORE GAS STOVE OVEN LOWER BURNER WON'T WORK

Most likely a hot-surface ignitor has failed. If it doesn't consume enough current, the gas valve won't open. It's usually a fairly easy fix, once you gain access to the ignitor and have a new one to replace it with. Make sure you unplug the range...

Gas stove

The JGRP17 (not a full model number) does not have a pilot light. It uses glow bar ignitors. Watch the burner at the top of your oven when you turn on broil. After a short time the glow bar ignitor begins to glow, and a short time after that the broiler burner should ignite. The same thing should happen with the oven burner under the floor of the oven when you attempt to bake. If the igniter does not glow, or glows and burner does not light, replace ignitor.
