Question about Microsoft Computers & Internet
Do I have to upgade to window 10?
Windows 7 will no longer be supported as of January 14th, 2020. Normally, they released ONLY security updates, they did that with Windows XP. Looks like that is not the case this time around:
I'd insure your laptop will handle the upgrade to Windows 10:
Windows 10 requirements: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4028142/windows-10-system-requirements
Also, a lot of people do not know this, I only do because I work with a lot of disabled people. Windows 10 upgrade is free to people with a disability as long as you have a windows 7 OS installed (including OEM). This worked for disabled people with any version of Windows 7 and up (8, 8.1).
Here's the info: https://www.zdnet.com/article/heres-how-you-can-still-get-a-free-windows-10-upgrade/

Yes, you would use an XP pro upgrade but the major difference between the two is the ability to connect to a server other than the Home Edition peer-to-peer (as pgh_pa_guy noted also). In other words. outside of a business/office setting there isn't much need to do it...

I see that you are wanting to Upgrade from Vista 64 to Win7 64.
You also mentioned that the Upgrade Advisor told you to check with Asus, I guess you may need to since Asus will be able to tell you if they will have all the drivers Needed for your machine to run in Win7 64 bit, Win7 64 bit is a new Operating system and still has issues with drivers for devices such as wirelss card and video cards, also has issue with compatibilty with programs.
I also suggest that you call Asus for further details regarding this concern.
Have a nice day.
