The console is not reading several games that it used to read.

The problem is caused by the laser being slightly off. The laser the reads the discs needs to be in a certain place and as you use your console over the months this can become worn or slightly off key.it's probably best to get it repaired.

If its just one game the problem is with the game. try cleaning. if it still doesnt work the game is damaged.

I read through several different peoples problem and saw that a simple cleaning could be the answer.....and it worked

The problem, generally is the laser motor, that is old or worn.
Unless you know of an electrical engineer, who won't charge the earth for the repair, It's now just ornamental.
Another major problem with these particular 'slim line' consoles, is that they heat up too much.
There isn't a sufficient air flow to cool the processor.

Hi,
if the consoles still warranted, get it replaced or repaired.
Certain consoles use 2 different lasers. 1 for blueray and dvd. and 1 for games. Others have ways of switching power up and down. to enable different reading formats. i,m not sure of the PS3s backwards compatabilities. but you could try a PS2 game.
if it does,nt read that or any game. i,d suggest a laser read problem.

this problem occurs in certain games, keep inserting the game or take back to the rental company, as it has an error on the disc, especially if you know that other discs are read alright by the 360.
