It is Better do this : Instead of Updating the drivers, roll back the driver first and unintall the Hardware Totally from your system through the device manager. Next, restart your system, and then it prompts for 'New Hardware Found', use the Finger Printer Driver That you have, to re-install it afresh, if you dont have you can download it from here : http://www.getpcmemory.com/drivers/download-acer-aspire-5738-5738g-5738z-notebook-windows-xp-drivers/
After that, restart your system again. It should work like that now.
You have probably installed the XP driver from your CD. You need to remove it, and then install the proper "Vista" package from Lexmark's website.

before running the PS Wizard in Vista, right-click on the icon for PS Wizard and select "run as administrator". This will clear the bind errors and wrong segment errors many times - this only applies to vista.
un install the printer driver, reboot ,windows should detect new hardware ,and then insert the cd that came with the printer select have disc and re-install the software.
if your acer has vista you may need to get a vista driver for it,or worse the printer is not compatible with vista.
Check Cell should be inside the keyboard and mouse , keyboard and mouse should b in line of sight .check in device manger whether drivers are properly installed or not
Did you make sure that you installed the latest driver from HP's web site for Vista? Some systems will grab the wrong driver if you let it do an automatic install.
