One speaker works only

I recently bought these logitech x-230 speakers and whilst one (the right one - which doesn't have the power button on it) works fine, the other doesn't produce any sound at all.

I've tried plugging the speaker system directly into my mp3 player and this solves the problem as both speakers work fine, however the same cannot be said for when its plugged into my computer.

I think it might be a problem with the jack as if I pull it slightly out of the port then the sound comes out both speakers but is very tinny.

Do I need to get a 3.5mm jack instead of the standard 2.5? Or could it just be my sound card doesn't support them? Please help as I'm clueless.

I too get this problem, but it occurs randomly, for no particular reason. It's fine for a period then this problem happens.

As long as the jack you are using fits snug into the port, they will be the right size. I am sure that they are the same size. As for the jack port, some can be finicky like that. It is more than likely your sound card that is at fault. You can check the connection on your card by removing it with the computer off and inspect it for a loose connection within the jack port and around it. Plug in the speakers slowly and see where it is not contacting. Some do it yourselfers can fix this by replacing the port or re soldering a bad connection

Hello, My logitech x-230 2.1 speaker system is not producing any sound. The power light comes on but no sound at all comes from any speaker. Also, it is not the computers fault because I have used it with...

If there is an ON/OFF switch at the back of your 2.1 speakers, then switch it on. Or is the VOLUME control set at 0? Turn it up a bit.

Or, are the left & right speakers properly hooked to the subwoofer unit?
Please check.

Logitech x-230 2.1 Speakers: My speakers power on but do not work i guess because of loose wiring ...how do i open the speakers and check the problem??

If the speakers are still under warranty its best not to open them. You will lose your warranty. If the speakers are still under warranty, take them back to where you bought the speakers and ask them to replace the product.

But to make sure the speakers are working, plugg the green audio jack into another source to see if its the speakers or your pc. helps to narrow down the problem to a single source (pc or speakers), turn the volume up and down to test them completly.

If the speakers work with a ipod or a similar device, it could be your computer that is the problem.

Hope this helped :)

Right speaker without controls has stopped working.

plese change the wires and try the permutation and combinations.this wil lead to find out if the fault is in wire or in the port. this is purely a hardware fault.
