Have picture for 3 seconds screens back lights turn off. Then a black screen with sound. after I unplug for while and repower can I get the picture back for 2 seconds. no visible issues

Sounds to me like you have a grounding issue. Most likely on the main power board.

Dim the lights in the room, turn on the set. Shine a bright flashlight on the screen, do you see a faint picture?

You need to try to isolate the problem. Try connecting an external monitor to your laptop. Press function screen keys. If you have a picture on your external monitor then you have a video problem - most likely an inverter, although you may need a new screen, unlikely but possible.

If you have no picture then you have a system problem. Disconnect the battery and AC adapter. Remove the memory and reseat. Repower your laptop and see what happens.

if you look closely can you see a very dark image on the screen? your problem is usually the result of the backlight on its way out, these are very hard to replace so you will need to take it to a profesional, in most cases it is cheeper to buy a new screen.

After being on a little while, the screen goes black (no audio as well) for 20 to 30 seconds. Green light stays on. Then, picture comes back on and takes a couple of seconds to get up to full brightness. About 5 seconds or so after the video comes back, the audio returns.

Until this morning, has only happened a couple of times a day, now happening more often. About 3 times in last 20 minutes.

KDF-E55A20 is about 3 years old.

I had the same exact problem.
I removed the bulb and cleaned it. There is a small screen at the top of the bulb and it was covered with dust. Once it was cleaned I replaced the bulb and it solved the problem.
