Hp laserjet 5200

firstly check whether the problem is internal or external-
Have the printer print out the config page- if you can see the image then the issue is external to the printer- check your PC settings
If you cant see an image-
You say you have allready changed the toner unit, was this before the fault or after?
under where the drum/toner cartridge sits there should be a Black 'transfer' roller that will line up with the drum surface when inserted- if this is missing or failed then the image cannot be ' transferred' from the drum to the paper. this is just one possibility, if your not sure wheher the transfer roller is working - stop a print half way through- remove the paper and toner unit - slide the drum surface protector to the side and look at the drum surface for a latent reversed image in toner on the surface of the drum, if you can see an image the problem lies with the transfer element, if you cant see an image then it could possibly be the charge chorona/ HVT PWB / Laser unit, main Pca, power supply hope this helps

My Oki C5800 is not printing any black- toner is not out, drum is new. I have restarted computer, turned off/on printer, checked cables- not giving any messages. Help?

First of all try cleaning the black LED head with an alcohol wipe, next check the connection to the black LED head and make sure there is nothing blocking the light between this head and the top of the image drum. It may also be worth swapping the LED head between colours to see if the problem moves colour or stays with black. If after moving the head the problem still happens with black then it may indicate a problem with the image drum or an electrical problem. If you have another unit you could try swapping the drum and toner between units.

Ghost image towards bottom of page. Does this indicate my drum should be changed out?

Hey
if its a standard black toner printer your drum will need changing its probably not the photo drum itself but the cleaning wire that is attached to the drum unit is dirty...but there is no way to fix this but to replace the drum module..

If its a color toner it's the same thing the "drum" needs to be changed but in a color toner printer it's actually called a transfer film.
hope this helps,ben

Print quality problems after installing imaging unit.

Put the old image unit back in, if it prints normaly then you might have bought a defective image unit.

When trying to copy original, copy comes out completely black! help.

First, from the MENU screen on the HP, print a CONFIGURATION page. If the print is ok, your scanner is the problem, maybe the scan light is dirty or defective. If the print is black, the DRUM or the IMAGING UNIT may need replacement. These are "consumable" parts that can be ordered like toner cartridges as "supply" items. DO NOT try to clean the imaging unit! The drum can be damaged by even a fingerprint. If there is spilled toner inside the printer, you can TRY to wipe or brush it away. DO NOT use a vacuum! The static WILL DAMAGE THE PRINTER CIRCUITS.

Deteriorating image quality

Good Evening Robert,

The setting for non dell toner only controls the fuser temperature, and will not cause you any print quality issues. Toner is actually made up of ink and plastic. The fuser melts the plastic to "fuse" the image to the paper. Dell toner is set to "fuse" at a specific temperature. when you use non Dell toners, the temperature required to fuse may be different, and when set to non dell toner setting, the fuser temperature is raised to the maximum to ensure the other toner fuses properly. The down side to this is that you will wear out the fuser sooner then it should.

As far as the print quality issue you are having, it is most likey caused by the imaging drum.

Regardless of the estimated life for the imaging drum as stated by the printer, this is just an estimate. Many things can and will cause the imaging drum need replacing. ( Just yesterday I replaced a black toner in a 3115 that was less then a month old... genuine Dell... with more then 75% expected usage left because it was defective).

On this printer, each of the 3 colors and the black are all independent of each other with the exception of the imaging drum. Even within the imaging drum, cyan and black are independent of magenta and yellow on the first stage of transfer. When you have deteriorated print quality that effects more then one color, the first step is to replace the imaging drum.

The Primary transfer, secondary transfer, and tertiary transfer of the image are ALL contained within the imaging drum.

The chances of having 3 or 4 bad Developers is very very slim. If your print quality issue was related to only ONE color, then I would say you had a bad developer unit ( the 4 items located behind the imaging drum when removed). These are far more difficult and expensive to change.

The BTR ( bios transfer roller ) is the only other item that "could" effect your print quality, however, based on the symptoms you discribed, I doubt it. Besides, if i am not mistaken, the imaging drum kit comes with a new btr anyway.

Although I am sure you may be disappointed with the fact the drum unit is failing while showing it still has life remaining, the solution to replace it should restore your unit to full operation. The unit is light sensative, and effected by physical age as well as the number of prints it has supplied.

Please evaluate the solution i have provided and, rate the solution appropriately to show your support.

Thanks,
Cory

Printer prints black line on every page as well as the document

a solid line on every page is either a defective toner cartridge or imaging drum. since you did not specify your printer type and model, I can only go by general print quality generalities. A Void can be caused by other things, such as a bad printhead or dirt on the print head, but a line is usually caused by a defect on the imaging unit, developer, or toner cartridge (on units with a toner cartridge, the developer and imaging unit are enclosed in the cartridge).

Ricoh Aficio cl2000

Most of the time when I find this happening on a printer, not just Ricoh's it turns out to be the PCU (photo conductor unit). The color PCU is one unit and the black is a seperate unit. Hope this helps.
