A spidem my coffee machine grinds beans but dumps free grounds without compacting and red warning light comes on solid. Suggestioms please

These machines are problematical in home use, and when they go wrong you just pick them up and take them to the nearest Service Centre. Too many models and they all have issues.

Different machine, same issue

When the grinder spins free and fast it only means that fresh beans are not feeding into the burrs. This happens when:
1- Grind setting is too fine and beans cannot enter the grinder mechanism.
2- Use of oily dark roast beans can clog the ground coffee chamber and preven the fresh beans entering the grinder.
3- The ground coffee chamber outlet is clogged due to oily beans or too fine coffee setting.

When you cleaned the grinder you may not have cleaned the coffee outlet to the doser on the left. You can clean the outlet to open the passage of coffee grounds to collect in the dosing device..
After cleaning the outlet, you should next make sure that coffee grounds are not packed in the doser. The doser is inside the door right above the brew group.
To access the doser:
1- Remove water tank.
2- Remove the brew group.
3- Lay the machine on its back for full view of the doser.
4- Pull the doser door open (it is like an Attic door.
5- Keep the doser door open and clean the inside with a brush. The outlet from the grinder is on the right side with a wire wiper cleaner that moves across the grinder outlet fills from the grinder. This opening.
Use a brush to clean the doser.
On the left of the doser space there is a plastic flap that is pushed to the left when coffee grounds fill the doser.
At certain distance push back (1/4") the notch on top of the flap pushes the doser micro switch pin to stop the grinder. Push the flap gently to the left to make sure that it is moving well. With each push back of the flap, one can hear the feeble click sound from the micro switch.
When the above cleaning is done, try the grinding.
If the conical burrs have not been replaced for over 2500 grinds, it is time to do so.

Grinder adjustment set too low. Increase the setting to 18 and try again, after it grinds and starts to brew push the brew to stop the cycle. Repeat the steps again. If it works when it is grinding turn the big knob back down but to a mark 2 higher than you had it before. When the grind gets to fine the ground coffee compacts in the grinder and passage way then you get the message bean hopper empty. Making the grind a little coarser prevents the grinds from compaction. If you are using oily beans (Shiney) they can glue themselves together and cause the same symptoms but the fix is the same. Make it coarser. If it didn't fix the problem you will have to dissassemble the grinder and clean, then readjust.

Check the grind it might be too fine, then check the screen under the red o-ring in the brew unit it might be blocked.

More than likely your grind is to fine and you are using oily beans (shiney). There is a small knob in the bean hopper. turn it down to the minus side. Turn the big knob to the # 18. If that doesn't work you are going to have to take the grinder apart and clean it.

The grind chamber is blocked, remove the beans and brew unit then clean the grinds chamber, then adjust the grind 2 numbers coarser and try again.

Adjust the grind atleast 2 numbers coarser.

Try to adjust the grinding little finer, when you have adjust this you have to make 3-4 cup of coffee to get the final result.

Water has probably been spilt in the beans area. The grinder needs cleaning out along with the chute
