New batteries, remote is flashing but TV not responding even for on/off
Light at the remote control flashes; does not mean it works properly. You have to check whether it emits infrared rays out from its front; which activates the TV. The indicator light blinks; means the remote control is working, and the the batteries are good. That's all. The infrared light that emits from its front side [infrared LED] is not visible to human eye. It can be detected by an electronic camera. If infrared ray emitting LED is faulty, the TV won't respond to remote control.
Check the remote control for its infrared emission. Check it by pressing all the keys. You can detect the presence of infra-red emission from the remote control, using a cell-phone camera.
