Hi Thula

First you need to check each and every app whether it is installed on phone or sdcard. If they are installed on phone then you have to move it to your sdcard so that you can save a lot of storage space on your galaxy smartphone phone memory.
So how to move the apps from phone memory to SD card? Please follow the below given steps.
1. Go to Settings->More->Application manager. There tap on any app and tap "Move to SD card". That's it, every movable data will be moved to the SD card. Do this for all the apps and you will be able to save a lot of storage space on your Samsung Galaxy Smartphone.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Trend Plus. In My Files/Device Storage there is a Folder called Navigon, 430MB containing 8 folders & 260 files. Can I just delete it?

some times this will help
go to settings, go to apps, click on program and clear data or soemthing like that. it should tell you how much space it is taking up and one deleted it should update the total space. and the thing is you can do this to all the apps but one at a time

Am trying to download a pattern (and tried various patterns I had purchased and kept on my laptop) and message "memory full" keeps appearing even though I have no patterns saved. What's up?

Well I think the first and most obvious solution is deleting unwanted files you don't use and have made redundant whether this be media, documents. pictures films and so on.
you can also do a disc clean up plus a defrag.
its sounds as if you are running out of space.
what windows are you running?
how big is your hard drive.
how much ram have you got?
go and look at the size of your hard drive and see how much space is left on it.
but it does sound like not a lot of space left to download anything.
there is more you can do to free up space but lets start with what I have put.
if its none of the above please let me know.

How do I change the language setting on a galaxy trend plus phone?

Below is a link for a user manual I found for the Galaxy Trend Plus. It seemed to be a fairly big file so I downloaded to try to find only the pages with language settings. Unfortunately I found more than one or two different ways to change the language. So, here the link to the user manual for your phone. Hopefully, you can find exactly what you need... Good luck :)

Recover pictures from Samsung Smart phone?

Definitely Yes! First of all, you should stop saving any new files to your Samsung smart phone (or SD card) or taking new pictures.

Then find some photo recovery software from this site Best Computer Software, which are able to recover deleted or formatted photos from cell phone, digital camera, memory card and SD card etc.

Digital Photo Recovery for Windows

Digital Photo Recovery for Mac OS X

Here are the steps:

Step 1: Download and install the Digital Photo Recovery Software.

Step 2: Connect your Samsung smart phone (or SD card, memory card etc) to your PC or Mac.

Step 3: Scan the source drive where your lost pictures located.

Step 4: Recover the lost pictures and save them to another drive instead of the source drive.

After deleting pictures I never get 40GB of memory space back

I found the same thing. Had to go to "my computer" , load up the photobank icon.

Click on the cards folder and then delete each folder.

THEN ,after clearing off the photobank, go to the desktop and empty the recycle bin. You will get the 40gigs back.
