One of my N4E cameras doesnt power up any more. Is it possible that it is just the internal power supply which is fried? How can i test that the camera part still works

I applied 12v (instead of 6v) to the external power input by mistake. I want to fix the power supply (Im assuming that i fried the the internal rectifier? But I dont have a schematic). if the other parts like the camera and micro are still working. Any information on which chips and pins to apply the proper voltage would be appreciated.

Can a fried Yamaha Tyros 2 be repaired

It is very possible that it has a blown fuse or blown power supply section. If that is the case. Yes it can be repaired by replacing the internal step down power supply or fuse. A qualified technician should look at this and do this work for safety sake. I do not recommend doing it yourself.

Surge has possibly fried the PSU. Depending on the severity, you may find other components are damaged on the motherboard.
Best way is to test with a known good PSU

Had a low voltage problem in the home. Main powerline at pole had one line broken almost all the way through, lights were dim, clothes dryer would not start, micro wouldn't heat, other stuff. After we got...

I would recommend checking the power supply first but it is possible the board may have gone as well.

Usually random shut offs or restarts are power related

Hi i have an acer aspire E380 and it doesnt boot up when switched on,it doesnt even beep. noce rare occasions it with work fine but it may take many attempts. what could be the cause many thanks.

Your problem is either with your power supply or motherboard, but being as it boots somtimes and then dosent, and not even a beep, then the power supply would be the main cause, i sugest taking the power supply out of the computer and taking it to your local pc store, ask them if they could test it for you before you buy a new one. hope this helps.

Canon XTI Digital SLR - "Fried" from hotshoe adapter??

In case you have still the "fried" camera, it is more likely that an inetrnal fuse is blown up in any of the two internal printed board circuit parts.

You will need to send your camera to a qualified repair center for diagnostics and repair.

I have plugged wii in 220 volt recepatacle though it was 110 volt what to do

Hello,

There are two possible scenario's when you accidentally plug a 110V device in a 220V outlet:
1: The power supply to the device you plug in gets fried. this is your best case scenario. See if you can borrow a Wii power supply from a friend and test your console with this power supply. If this works, you just need a new power supply and all is well.
2. Your Wii gets fried. Worst case scenario: your Wii got fried. If it is still in warranty, see if they will cover this damage under the manufacturer warranty, if not, I am afraid you will either need to pay for repairs or buy a new console.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but plugging a 110V device in a 220V outlet generally will fry one thing or the other or even both.

Thanks for using the FixYa forums!

Xbox plugged into a higher volt outlet

If you can obtain a new power supply unit(external, of course), sometimes referred to as a "Brick", that would be your best first test. However, if that doesnt work, then the unit is pretty much cooked. It is not recommended that you disassemble your unit and attempt to repair it yourself, though if its that broken, you dont have much to lose, unless it's under warranty. At that point, you'd be at a loss for parts, as they dont really sell Xbox parts in your local electronics store. So what you're looking at is either a fried brick, or fried internal hardware. Could be a cheap fix in the former, or a new unit in the latter, there. Check Ebay or similar sites to find a replacement external power unit. As with any tech problem, fix the cheap part first :)

Samsung VP-L700 Hi-8

The majority of electronic manufacturers are aware of users making mistakes with power sources; thus they generally fit electronic devices with a special size input. A small plug will not fit into a large input and visa versa. That eliminates mistakes using various power supplies. I doubt if you fried the Samsung, but stranger things have happened from time to time. Take the 700 to your local provider and ask them to run a test. Go from there.
