They are ultra hd 4 k Blu-ray Discs and the disc shows incompatable disc on screen I've checked all settings and read the manual but they won't play

Maybe the 4K discs are protected. What you can do is use some UHD Copy software and make copies of them to remove the protection, so that you can play them on your player.
Simply put, if you get a 4K movie backing Dolby Vision, you would need a player capable of supporting it. Otherwise, you will not be able to take advantage of the higher resolution, HDR or wider color support.

Could be a problem of the region codes on your Blu-ray disc and your Blu-ray player.
