Almost my whole PC system is hooked-up to 1 AVR (automatic voltage regulator). This AVR somewhat also acts as the main switch.
After Windows shut down I turn off the AVR switch and my CPU is totally off. My monitor I/O led light turns amber from green. Takes awhile to totally turning off, but its does after a few seconds or a couple of minutes. Must be some residual electricity in the CRT.
Otherwise you can push the Viewsonic G220f I/O switch to instantly and totally turn off said CRT. Please don't ask me why - I honestly do not know the reason why. I just observed it to be so.
Problem solved! The main power thingy (the thing with the big red wire coming out of it) was all black and dusty. There was 'soot' all over the whole insides of the monitor. I concluded that this monitor should be laid to rest, and a new flat-screen monitor erected in its place.

I have a G220F M/N VCDTS23852-1M monitor that tells me it will shut down in 5 seconds (then does) The green light lights for a brief moment then goes and stays yellow with a black screen. I need a service manual and schematic.
