If you have a dual capacitor, which has 3 posts, C - goes to Run on the compressor. Herm goes to start on the compressor. If you have a single capacitor Run from the compressor goes to the terminal on the capacitor that has a wire coming from one side of the contactor. The start wire goes to the other terminal on the capacitor without another wire attached to it.

This is a three ton heatpump must likely it is a 35/5uf capacitor. But if you can read compressor tag it will tell you size it requires and also fan label will do some for it.you will need to ask for a dual capacitor from supply house make sure you pay close attention to hoe wires hook up so you can wire in new on before removing wires make sure you have high voltage turned off to unit.take pic with phone this will help when you rewire

Try pulling the unit out of the frame, should have wiring diagram.

To get proper cold air set temp 23 degree and mode"cool".After 3 minutes, if no compressor starts, check wiring to compressor and also capacitor. May be some wire burnt or loose wiring.Rectify it.

Are you talking about a start capacitor or a run capacitor?
Usually a dual capacitor is a metal can type capacitor with 3 terminals.
C - which is run for compressor and fan.
Herm - is start for the compressor.
Fan - is start for fan.
A start capacitor is a black plastic capacitor
It is in series in the run wire to the potential relay, one side goes to run on the run capacitor and the other side goes to #1 on start or potential relay.

Assuming "Window Unit" with rotary switch.
L1 (smooth part of line cord) to thermostat 1, thermostat 2 to overload (black disk) from overload to Common( C) terminal on compressor.
From Run (R) terminal on Compressor to Common (C) terminal on dual capacitor. From Start (S) terminal on Compressor to "Herm" terminal on capacitor. From fan motor to # 4 on switch = Medium Speed, to # 6 on switch = High Speed, from fan motor to # 7 on switch - Low Speed. Brown wire from fan motor to (F) on dual capacitor, white wire from fan to (C) on capacitor and L2 (ribbedwire) (N) to (C) on capacitor

Did you change the capacitor when you changed the fan? If you didn't you need to. And that capacitor is a dual one running the compressor and fan. So make a diagram of it what wires go where the area is real tight and some wires are the same color. You might make labels to be a little easier. Also get the same size capacitor when you change it.

Here is the standard connection of dual capacitor. Actually you can see the diagram on the unit but Im not familiar with the Intertherm model. What can I give to you is only the standard connection of dual capacitor.

Pull the quick disconnect. Mark which way the capacitor went in and draw a diagram or mark the wires before removing them. It should say somewhere on it what the UF is on both sides. A A/C parts store can usually test them. Most of the time they are swelled up or leaking if they are bad. There is a little spot where they blow oil out of to keep them from exploding. The wireing diagram may tell you what size it is.
