My Yamaha Natural Sound AV Receiver RX 673 is not powering on . It's. On standby mode. Is there anything I can do to power it on? Secondly can it be serviced or repaired?

some times the speaker cables are touching, double check, I had this with my amp and it kept turning itself off

There is likely a static charge (voltage / difference of potential) between the the receiver and the TV.
They should have their grounds tied together. This should be covered in your owner's manuals.
In some cases, there may also be a stray voltage on the cable line's ground. If grounding the two together doesn't work, you may want to call the cable company (or you or a friend may be able) to check the cable line for a stray voltage or bad ground.

I suggest you run self diag. press [FM/AM] key + [Input mode] key and press the [power/standby] switch.
ps prt = power supply problem
dc prt = shorted output or leakly cap in channel
tmp prt means to hot on heatsink
you'll likely have to measure the resistances of the output FETs to find a short,

Does it work without PS3 attached?
When receiver turns off, it is usually due to badly connected/configured speakers. Try powering on the receiver without speakers.
