How do I remove the brain box on a 2004 chevy aveo

We are replacing the clutch and have reached the point of removing the starter, but we can't find a way to get to the top bolt other than removing the brain box. How do we disconnect the brain box without damaging it?

What combinations of sockets are used to remove 3 bolt on a starter on a ford f150 pickup

I just replaced the starter on my 2001 F 150 and had to use a 13 mm socket with a swivel and 3 long extensions. I reached the top and side bolts by going through the wheel well. You have to stick your head in over the tire to see the top bolt, but it was pretty easy to reach it with this combination. The side bolt I could either reach it from under the truck or through the wheel well, through the wheel well seemed easier using the swivel and extensions

I need to replace a 2001 hyundai tiburon starter

Hi, Disconnect car battery.
Remove cover from air intake. Remove Filter.
Remove Filter intake housing (3 inner bolts) and large hose at the furthest screw collar. (This is important as you will need to reach the bolts to the starter by reaching from the top down via that location)
Remove the starter/ acceleration cable (1 bolt at the end of the cable, 2 bolts at the guide point screwed intot the engine block)
THE STARTER IS LOCTED AT THE BACK OF THE ENGINE WITH ONLY 2 BOLTS HOLDING IT IN PLACE
Remove the 2 bolts about half way with a socket wrench, remove the bolt sthe remining way with hand or open end wrench. (This is necessary especially on the lower bolt as there is liited work space.)
Take hold of the the starter using a partially blind reach and patially pull it out slightly turning it around so you can see the connectors.
Remove connectors........ Remove clip, the the bolt that holds the positive cable.
You can now fully remove the starter.
Take it 2 the local auto parts to have it tested. Have them test it 4 to 5 "bumps" as when mine was initially tested it worked fine but after 2 to 3 more attempts it froze and would operate.
To reinstall reverse procedure
Take care

How to remove starter on a 2003 softail harley davidson

It's a lot of work.
First, disconnect and remove the battery. Don't want to lose a finger.
Drain the primary and remove the outer primary cover.
Remove the small bolt that holds the jackshaft onto the starter and remove it if you can. If it won't come out, you'll have to take the nut off the clutch assembly and slide it out just far enough to get the jackshaft out. To get to the nut, remove the clutch rod adjuster in the center of the clutch assembly by removing the snap ring. Loosen the nut, left handed threads. When retorquing 60-80 foot pounds, left handed. There is a coupling that connects the jackshaft to the starter, mark which way it comes out. Tapered end towards starter.
Remove the exhaust system if needed.
Remove all bolts holding the oil tank and lift it up as high as possible.
Disconnect the large battery cable and the small wire at the top of the starter.
Remove the two large bolts that hold the starter onto the inner primary cover.
Work starter out.

How do I replace starter on 2000 sportster

You must remove the primary to reach 2 bolts holding in the starter. This is a pretty big job, first completely loosen the clutch cable, remove the derby cover, disconnect clutch cable, remove inspection cover, drain primary fluid, loosen primary chain tension er, remove shifter linkage, remove primary cover ( use a Styrofoam board to place bolts in order due to different lenghts), remove ramp and ball assembly ( need snap ring plyers), using a tool to lock the clutch basket and primary drive remove bolts( I don't remember which but one removes left hand), you now can reach the bolts holding in the starter. As I stated this is a pretty big job and you should have a manuel before starting, if you don't want to buy one you can check one out at most library's. Reverse to install and remember LOCK TITE everything.

During spin mode, I get Dc error in my maytag washer. Please let me know how to fix this.

Hello simhanjv,

If your machine is a FAV6800AW or FAV9800AW you may be experiencing a clutch malfunction. If you call in a service repair company the cost will be in the $300 + range. Do the work yourself and if just clutch maintenance is required your looking at $10 - $15 for a can of WD-40 and a some bearing grease. Worse case if you have to replace the clutch $55 range.

Access and remove the Clutch for maintenance
Disconnect 120VAC power cord.
The Service Manual and Sears Parts Direct for reference.
Raise the top of the machine. Insert a flat blade putty knife approximately 2.5” from the left and right sides of the washer top, depress the spring tabs securing machine top to the washer base. See page 33 of the SM for putty knife insertion point.
Remove the front panel see page 41.
Tools required;
3/8 inch socket and socket wrench to remove clutch pulley bolt. Page 47 of the SM
1/2 inch socket or wrench to loosen Drive Motor tension bolt.
5/16 nut driver or 5/16 ¼ socket on an extension to remove front panel see page 41 of the SM.
1. Lean the washer back and blocked in that position for a better reach angle. Rotate 3/8” clutch Pulley Bolt CW to remove clutch bolt.
2. Follow SM page 46 & 47 to remove clutch pulley.
3. Remove 4 screws holding plastic cover on clutch, inspect clutch spring to make sure it is not broken. Inspect roller bearings clean up with WD-40 and re-lube with bearing grease.
4. Replace white bearing plate into clutch pulley hub, insure key slot slips into clutch Spring pin in clutch hub.
5. Replace Clutch plastic cover with 4 screws.
6. Reseat clutch on spinner shaft and rock back and forth while lifting clutch with upward pressure to reseat clutch. When seated properly you will feel a 1/16-1/8" gap between the Pulley face and shaft end as mentioned and shown on page 47 of the SM. On reinstallation, tighten Clutch Pulley bolt CCW to 96” pounds 8’ foot pounds (Snug no torque wrench required).
7. Do a quick wash and make sure clutch runs true with no wobble or clicking sound. If the clutch has not been seated properly it will spin off. If this happens go to page 16 of the SM Board Output Test and turn on Drain Pump in Service Mode to pump out excess water.
8. Repeat steps 6&7 if the clutch has excessive noise or spins off.

Here are some folks that did this maintenance with positive results.

Replace the starter on a 95sn mustang convertable

There are two bolts holding the factory starter/reducer onto the 5.0 block. The bottom bolt should be easily accessible from underneath while up on ramps/stands but the top bolt must be reached by feeding several long extensions through the front of the motor (by the pulleys) onto the top bolt. If you look down the passenger side by the header you will see the top bolt. You will have to take the intake piping off as well.

I need to remove my starter on my 98 Diamante but I can not see all mounting bolts and I need to know where the bolts are located.

Hi, I am assuming you know where starter is. If you have found bottom bolt #14 metric socket which to reach you "must" use a medium length extention and go into it right above manifold pipe to reach it. I found if you take the guard off the starter 3 small hex head screws, it is much easier to get at all bolts (2). Whats strange is the lower bolt on starter mounts from the front and the "TOP" bolt #14 has to be reached from the rear of starter. You can not see the top bolt from bottom or top, but if you use your hand and reach up aroung the back of starter you can feel it! It took 2 of us one reaching up from bottom with just #14 deep well socket (no extention) on the rachet and feeling where to place it with rachet facing up, and person over top of engine reaching down helping to align socket on bolt, then use a piece of pipe or ? From the top place pipe extension on end of rachet and bolt will easily.
break loose. Good Luck it sounds hard but is fairly easy with right tools. kasheyboy77
