Its a stereo TV. And there is nothing to do to make it mono/stereo.If yo get stereo transmission then it will automatically change to stereo and vice versa.

I don't have a remote and the tv is in mono how do

It will usually default to Stereo and still show mono--answer is to manually try (usually not possible) you need to get into the menu with the original remote---Philips at my last count had over 25 different IR codes for their products==many of which are not available with universal remotes etc.

to eliminate the problem just select the mono sound disable the stereo signal.so that your tv sound will be stable.this happens because not all tv stations are broadcasting on stereo signal thats why your tv keep on switching to mono and stereo base on what signal it receives.plus the signal being feed by the cable provider sometimes they are not stable enough to give the stereo signal so better select only the mono sound...tnx hope i helped you..

Just bought a dynex 24 inch and it only plays in mono, no stereo audio . no able to switch to stereo

A lot of time the stereo/mono is automatic. Try using a DVD player instead of your regular cable and see if it changes.

How to switch from mono to stereo, I have misplaced the instructions, this tv was purchased in 2005

You should be able to go direct online with Philips with your model number etc and get a download version of the manual. I recently had the same issue with a Vizio. If you have your correct factory Philips remote, you should also be able to access the menu and go to settings and change from mono to stereo under the sounds category. Just follow the up and down/side to side etc buttons to change settings.

Can i connect a stereo receiver to my 62 inch projection tv

Depends on your model # - I will need that to provide you an extra assistance:
If your model is....
62PL9524 - YES
62PL9774 - YES

if it is any other model, I will need model number to tell you for sure

On these two models, you would hook r and w audio from the mono out port to the stereo receiver

Audio from an external input only shows as mono on the TV information display.

If you are only getting sound through one speaker of the TV, check the scart connections are all in fully, and straight.

If you are getting sound through both speakers, then the sound is stereo. Stereo only shows when there is a NICAM stereo sound source, which is only through analogue terrestrial TV.
