SOURCE: When washer fills it does not stop unless done manually
HI, i recommend testing the timer/control device for faults. make sure it is spinning and not shorted. if the timer/control device is in good condition, this will confirm a serious fault in the water valve assembly(inlet). replace this device in this case.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
You will need to type into your search engine/web browser '(make) washer manual' and you should be presented with a number of sources from which you can either download for free or have to pay a nominal amount. During the process you will be asked for the actual model number!
Good luck,
John C.

UNPLUG THE MACHINE. Take the back off the dryer, usually 4 to 6 screws. On the backside of the panel you just took off should be a schematic showing where the thermo fuses are.
Take an ohm meter and check across the prongs sticking up, you may have to unplug them to get good contact. They should show 1, open, if they show 0, short. they need replaced. There are online parts companies that can help you get the right part.
It is unlikely that the element is bad, but if the thermo fuses show open, then you should be able to see the element, and replace it.

Hello Elizabeth P Cochran - Try resetting the unit by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait approximately ten minutes and restart unit. If the door does not open, then it sounds like the washer is possibly experiencing a communication problem with the control board, wiring failure or faulty door lock. Contact a professional to move forward accurately to properly diagnose/repair unit.
