E machine wont recognize the moniter or keyboard

E machine wont recognize the monitor or keyboard

  • jeremyjensen Jul 25, 2009

I have tried different monitors and keyboards. I had the monitor plugged into the motherboard and then put in a video card and still no monitor. I know the keyboard is not working because when I turn on my PC and I hit num lock or scroll lock or caps lock the lights don't turn on. I know all both my monitor and keyboard work cause I am using them right now on my other machine.

You can hear that it turns on and the light in the front of the machine turns on also a light on the mother board too. The mouse also turns on (USB LED mouse).

You've tried different monitors/keyboards with this computer? Is the monitor's connection right on the motherboard (i.e., it's probably next to the USB ports, etc.)? You can try using a different video card, just to make sure your monitor is working.

How do you know the keyboard isn't working if your monitor isn't working, either? The motherboard may just not be working at all if it won't let you toggle the caps lock/scroll lock keys. Usually if it boots but won't recognize the keyboard, the PC speaker will beep at you and the monitor will say something useful, like "Keyboard not recognized, replace and press F1 to continue."

A little more information would really help on this one.

You might try resetting BIOS to see if it will boot up with the factory defaults. Take out the watch-style battery for a few minutes and put it back in to drain the CMOS memory out, then put it back in and start it up.

With the limited info that you provided, it seems like the motherboard is not functioning. When you turn the computer on, does anything happen in the box?

Computer see the monitor

if the moniter is an Acer brand, the logo could just be the moniters sceensaver and not the actual computer. If you have tried other computers and connections that you know to be working it would seem to place the fault with the moniter. try googling the brand and model of the moniter to see if there are any known faults and fixes.

Monitor des not get signals

Look for any bent pins of the mouse & keyboard cable jacks(PS2). If any key is depressed then the PC wont start-up and continue to remain blank except for the power led. If you had disconnected any wires during re-fixing your CD ROM, check them again and if possible everything else other than Monitor, Keyboard and Mouse.......sodeep.
PS: disconnect your CD-ROM (wiring only) & check the sttus too!

Problem with moniter

Techguru2009: You need to reset the bios to defaults and make sure all devices are connected before you turn your computer on. Make sure in the bios setup that the setting for the keyboard is usb support. If this does not work then you might have a faulty video card. Or you might need to reinstall the monitor in the operating system. If you are running windows operating system click on start button, administrative tools folder, select computer management. Alternative, click on the run command on the start menu and type compmgmt.msc. When the program starts click on device manager. On the right side of pane click on monitors. Find all monitors right click on each one and unistall all of them. When you restart your computer the operating system should recognize plug and play monitor and intall it automatically. I hope this method works for you.
