SOURCE: HP Laser Jet 2840 50.2 Fuser Error

Usually this means that the fuser is not heating to the correct operating temperature. Remove the fuser and check all contacts. Be careful it can be very hot. Always let it cool down for atleast 30 minutes before touching the face of the fuser. After you check it over and clean off any contacts, reseat the fuser back into the printer. Plug it back in and turn the printer on. If this doesn't work and you still get the error, the fuser needs to be replaced.

SOURCE: the hp color laser jet 2840 does not print.

As the message says, you have a problem with the fusing unit. The only way to solve this problem is replacing it. Gerrit Jan

SOURCE: 2840 Hp Color laser jet displaying Scanner error 05

The book says to try the old power off and on. And then replace the scanner assembly and then the formatter.

Personally, I would try the formatter.

The hp color laser jet 2840 does not print. message "50.2 fuser error" appears

HP recommended checks: 1. adequate 120 VAC power supply, 2. Remove Fuser Assembly, wait 5 minutes and then reseat. 3. Reset the printer to Factory Default settings (remember to copy down the IP address, mask and gateway numbers first).

While this may solve the problem, it is much more likely it's time to replace the fuser. Cost is approx $125 if you buy it online. Just do a Google search on HP 2840 fuser.

This link will show you where your fuser is and how to remove and replace it.
