Try wiring them in series.

SOURCE: wiring my kicker solo-baric 15's

The best you can do is connect the dual 2 ohm voice coils of each respective sub in series (4 ohms total per sub) and then connect each sub to one channel of the amp. This will give each sub 1000W, which is the rated maximum from Kicker.

SOURCE: i have 2 kicker l7's 4ohm, how do i wire them down

If the subs are dual 2 ohm voice coils.....

  1. For a each sub, connect one of the "+" terminals on the sub to one of the "-" terminals. This makes each sub 4 ohms.
  2. Connect the unused "+" terminals of each sub together. Do the same with the unused "-" sub terminals. This makes the sub combination 2 ohms.
  3. Then connect the "+" and "-" sub terminals from the above step to the amp.
If the subs are dual 4 ohm voice coils, you can't connect both subs in any fashion to get a 2 ohm impedance. The best you can do is make a single sub 2 ohms by connecting both "+" terminals together and both "-" terminals together or the pair of subs 4 ohms by doing the same, then connecting one sub's "+" terminals to the other sub's "-" terminals, then connecting the other "+" and "-" terminals to the amp.

SOURCE: wiring diagram

Are your Speakers dual or single voice coil? The best way to find a wiring diagram is look at the rockford fosgate web site. I ll give you a tip to keep in mind. when wiring the ohms of a sub when you wire it in parallel positive to positive and negative to negative on one speaker you have left it in 2 or 4 ohm configuration depending on speakers. When in a series the ohm load will change by wiring positive and negative together will give you a lower ohm the more speakers you add to the amp. Fosgate will let you see how its done

SOURCE: best amp for Kicker Sub

Hello dalex7,

The Kicker 08ZX400.1 would be a great amp for your subwoofer. It will work into a 4ohm load with no problems.

But you can buy an amp with more power, looks better, has a smaller footprint, and cost less than the 400.1. I'd look at the Alpine MRP-M500. Take a look at it here at Crutchfield. The M500 is also easy to install, runs cool, and is very efficient.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: i got 2 pcs of kicker 12L7, one is 2ohm and the

Run the amp in stero Run the 2ohm to one chanel, Wire the dvc 4ohm to run 2ohm + to + - to - to the other chanel and you should be fine.
If you had a 1ohm stable amp you could run both speakers wired 2ohm to a mono amp and have a 1ohm set up and double the power!

Not if you want it to sound good. All speakers should match so equal sound comes out of each.

I have a Kenwood 720 amp powering 2 12 inch kicker cvrs..the amp will work fine for a few second then the bass starts skipping out and the amp shuts off..

check speakers impedance are matching amps. example: if you drive a 4 ohm amp with lower imp you are close to blow your amp or it goes to protect itself from you. anyway your amp provides 140watts maximum on 4ohm in bridged mode, so if you connect two 12" kickers with 4ohm, they will have 2ohm in parallel connection. solution would be to connect them in row (serial) but impedance will go up to 8ohms then.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS UP rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question.

CORRECT CONNECTION TO AMP BEING A FOUR TERMINAL SPEAKER

Hello i_starling,

The Kicker L7's come in either 2ohm or 4ohm dual voice coil (DVC) versions.

Whatever amp they are connected to, you need to know both the impedance of your L7's and the impedance of your amp. The L7's dual voice coils can be wired to provide a total of four different loads:

2ohm coils in parallel = 1ohm load
2ohm coils in series = 4ohm load
4ohm coils in parallel = 2ohm load
4ohm coils in series = 8ohm load

Your best connection would be the one that results in a final impedance load that is supported by the amp.

Hope this helps.

I have 2 kicker l7 12 dual voice coil subs.. i just friend a hifonics 1600w amp and am wondering if a kx 1200.1 kicker amp will be enough to power them they are 750w rms a piece .. can these be run at 1...

it all depends on the impendance of your subs if u have duel 4ohm or duel 2ohm, 2 duel 4ohm speakers can be wired at 1ohm to the amp, and with a kx1200.1 that would be pushin 2400 peak and 1200rms
if ya have 2 duel 2ohm speaker than you can only wire them to 2ohm and would be pushing 1200 peak and 600 rms with the kx1200, so if you have the duel 4ohm i would go with the kx1200.1 and if u have the duel 2ohm i would go with the hifoncs

How to wire up my kicker 12inch solobaric l5 2ohm to my zx500 2ohm mono amp. should it be ran in parallel or series? what is the best suggestion

Well first of all all solobarics are dual voice coil so you have 2 2ohm voice coils so if you wire them in parallel the sub will be pulling a 1ohm load wich would in time blow out your amp. So you want to wire both voice coils in series to produce a 4ohm load.
