It seems that there is plenty of toner in all four cartridges. Overall print quality is okay, but streaky. Worst is the one streak always along the bottom edge (of horizontal prints) / right side (of vertical prints). The streak seems to have all four cartridge colors in it, rainbow-y. Help!

Don't know that machine all that well, but it sounds like the laser filter glass may be dirty, or the laser unit. It seldom happens, but did you by any chance blow it out with compressed air?
Anyway, you may try taking out the toner cartridge, and if you tilt the machine upward you should see a sort of 'filter glass" above where the cartridge sits that allows the laser light to pass through from above. try cleaning this with a cloth, and hopefully that will solve your problem.

We had the same thing, and this may not be the case with your fax, but it's worth checking into.
I opened up the fax to take a look and it turned out that someone had sent a fax with WET WHITE OUT on the paper. It got in the fax (grrr!) so there was one stripe where you couldn't read anything since the scanner was blocked. Some windex and a paper towel fixed the problem here.

Hello,
There are a few possible reasons that can cause this problem. First, the fuser assembly may be
damaged or at the end of its life. The solution is to replace the fuser
assembly. Repairing a fuser assembly is generally not recommended
because the fuser is considered a consumable printer part and not worth
the time or effort to fix. Second, the toner cartridge may be defective
and letting too much toner out at one time, the solution is to replace the toner cartridge.
Take care.
