Unfortunately with the EVOLT E-500 it does not have the capability for a live view LCD screen. You must shoot images using the viewfinder only. The newer Olympus SLR cameras now have both viewfinder and live view LCD.

CAnnon Powershot A630 LCD screen will not light up when trying to take a pic. I can, however view old pics that I've already taken.

First press the DISP or DISPLAY button to see if that corrects the problem. If not, a stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open).
To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

I CANT VIEW IN THE VIEWER WHEN IN THE CAMERA MODE. IT WORKS FINE IN THE VIDEO MODE.IT WILL TAKE PICS IN THE CAM MODE BUT NO SCREEN.

Think that you might have accidentally pressed the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This manually turns the LCD display on and off to save batteries. You would then use the optical viewfinder in its place. To turn the screen back on, just press the DISP button one more time.

My viewing screen is black when trying to take a picture but when viewing pics I have already taken the screen is fine and show the pics..any idea what is wrong?

You need to go into the setup menu and turn on the display. This is sometimes turned off when you use the optical viewer or in low power modes. Your user manual will show you how to do this step by step.

I am trying to download pictures off my camera card to the computer, I have the card in the computer but can't seem to find anything that will let me download. Please help Ann

Remove card.
Place card back in reader. Screen should come up with menu for you too choose which means you wish to view contents.

Click my computer/and if card is registering/it will be listed with your other drives.

Double click, this hould then open card to view contents, it will also show you which programme you have installed to view your pics. If no pics means you have not setup poota to view your camera pics.

You need to install a viewer prog.

Black screen

Not to worry, this a very simple problem. Your display is set to off. All you need do is set it back on. And this is how you will do it.
To the right of your screen where you have your buttons, look for the display button. Below it is usually labeled DISP. Press this button again and again and watch as the screen display changes. At one of those instances it goes blank/off, but at the others it displays the view in deferent manners. Stop at any of those display options where it shows the view.

E500 viewfinder does not display subject when tasking pix

Page 20 of your user manual manual explains about each time the INFO button is pressed while in shooting mode. The camera is not a live view LCD screen so after it shows you normal information and then detailed information if you press INFO button again the camera screen will shut itself off. To turn the screen on again you need to press INFO again. This is normal camera behavior.
