How do I get rid of the musty smell?

In most Owner's Guides for front load machines, manufacturer's will advise to keep the door open after almost every cycle to help evaporate the water in the unit. Also to clean the rubber door seal with bleach water. To get rid of the smell there are solutions on the market that you can throw into the tub when you are not washing clothes and run a hot cycle. You can also use bleach, white vinegar and lime juice as an alternative. Then run a hot cycle. Do this about every 2 weeks, and keep your door cracked.

This is caused by the biomass built up inside the tub of the machine. This can also be caused by a moldy door boot. You need to scrub your door boot between the tub and the door. Water settles in the bottom of it and molds. Once you clean this, order affresh washer cleaner for your machine. This kills all the biomass built up in the tub and removes the smell. You will put all three tablets in the drum and run on the longest hottest wash available. When this is completed your machine should smell much better. To keep this from getting so bad again... Keep the washer door cracked open between cycles. This keeps the inside from smelling. Hope this helps

I have this problem with my Siemens machine, it is due to mainly running low temp washes and bateria building up in the hoses etc. (more prevalent if the machine is connected directly to the sink and not on a stand pipe). I run a 90 degree cycle every 4 weeks with the machine empty except for two capfuls of baby sterilisng fluid (approx half a mug) I buy stores own as it is cheaper than miltons. The first time I did mine I ran the cycle twice to be sure it was cleared out. My machine is six years old and the first smelly signs were when it was about a year old, I run the maintenance wash religiously ever 4 weeks and run a machine descaler such as oust thru every 4-6 months. all front load washers have the problem. Mold and a build up or dirt and soap and fabric softner cause s old musty smell. The low water use makes the machine dirty and build up inside. Run a few Hot water washes with out clothing, Run it empty ,(run your hot water neer your washer to get the cold water out of the house pipes) hot water and pour bleach in side, 2 or more cups. Keep doing it. When your not using washer leave the door open so air can get inside. Hot wash,es with bleach will keep it clean, also dont use fab softner.

the musty smell is from the door boot or gasket. deposit from clothes and detergent get trapped in there and have nowhere else to go. i would recommend purchasing Washerfresh tables to get rid of the deposits. they are available all over.

It sound like lint bult up under agitator orIn Between inner and outer tub it would have to be manualy cleaned thanks and good luck:)
