Philips gogear 8g is frozen.

Use the synchronization software that came with the device, Philips Songbird. It will automatically convert most media to the proper GoGear friendly format during synchronization.

not really, your filesystem most likely went corrupt and in fact to make the player work properly (you will be unable to add music most likely) you will need to use the philips device director to repair it. also when that is done, update the firmware (it might just start doing that in the first place, sometimes the ones i repair do. if the director is giving an error instead of repairing it all is not lost in my computer right click on your philips mp3 player's icon and click format this will clear the error and you can now update the firmware (a repair is not necessary) do not worry about ruining your mp3 player most likely your philips uses media player to transfer music so windows knows what it is. you can try to format your philips go gear by connecting it to your computer. if it still does not work out then you must return it.   

it started when i was transferring music to it.It was doing fine then it turned into system error where the screen was white. I tried solving that problem but it just got worse. Now it doesn't start up. I turn it on it just stays at the Philips screen and at the bottom it says "www.philips.com/welcome". I tried resetting it but it doesn't work. I connected it to the computer to attempt to solve it but it jsut stays at that screen. so i do not know what to do, either its fixable or i should return it. thank you if you can help with this problem.

there should be a small pinhole on the back of the device push it in and that should reset your device

this MP3 PLAYER, may have become corrupted after the transfer of music, if you are still valid for warranty, contact phillips and ask them about it or take it back to the store where you purchased it and tell them about the problem and what happened

Run a Repair in the Philips Device Manager - it will start the player over from scratch.

go with the reset button, it will erase the music but is not that bad.
any way, you will have another problem later. if you are able to change it...do it! i have had a lot of different problems

reset the gogear pres the power and volume + at same time

Make sure the volume is turned up sufficiently. If it is, then get it exchanged if still in warranty.
