Owning 1 of these refrigerators will require you to replace the water filter from time to time, in order to keep the water fresh and the refrigerator running efficiently. Kenmore refrigerators are made by Amana, Frigidaire, GE, LG, and Whirlpool, so it is important to find out which manufacturer made your Kenmore refrigerator, in order to make sure you order the right part. Kenmore refrigerators use filters that are located in the bottom, front panel of the refrigerator. Details can be found on WiKi how to change a water filter on a Kenmore Refrigerator.

A couple things to check here. First see if there is ice in the tray. If so chances are the ice maker will need to be replaced however these are very reliable ice makers. If no ice in the tray pull up on the ejector blade (don't worry you won't break it) turn clockwise to start the ice maker thru a cycle. The ejector blade is the long white bar with fingers on it that run the length of the tray. Once it completes a cycle it should fill with water. If no water then either the fill tube is frozen over and will need to be defrosted or the water valve is bad.

The filter should be a canister somewhere in the line from your sink to the refrigerator. If there is no canister visib;le there then obviously they never installed a filter in the first place. I hope this helps. Don't forget to rate my answer. thanks.

Found out we still had a warranty/service contract on it. Contacted SEARs and I explained problem to technician. Scheduled house call is Friday.

You may need to replace the water reservoir located behind the crisper. They are known to flake and cause the problem you describe. They are usually replaced with a coil of water line instead of one larger reservoir to stop the problem.
