SOURCE: opening ports on 4100

Thanks for the information. I'd recommend obtaining a router, it would make your life easier because routers are made to do exactly what you're needing to do (split your internet connection among several devices (PS3, PC, etc.). I'm a fan of Linksys routers, I use them in every home deployment possible. You can find the Linksys WRT54G or some variant at any big box store (Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.) or at online retailers (NewEgg.com, Buy.com, Amazon.com) for real cheap. All you'll need to do is hook up your router to your ISP'd modem, hookup your PC & PS3 to your router, enabled uPNP (universal Plug & Play) on the router and you're set.

You could use your PC as a router (assuming your PC has two network cards in it). You just turn on Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) and specify which card is connected to the ISP's modem (internet) and which one is connected to the PS3 (internal network). I don't recommend this solution as it is a bit buggy and having to route all the data from PS3 through your PC degrades the online performance on both the PC & PS3.

I hope this info helps, let me know if there's anything else I can do to help.

I have AT&T and I use my own linksys router.  For dsl you will need to set the router for pppoe and you will need your user ID and the password from AT&T.  Also turn on DHCP on your router.

SOURCE: cannot browse the internet i should subscribe to

Hi,
Here is the procedure for subscribing to packet data:
Menu--settings--connectivity--packet data--packet data settings--edit active access point--packet data access point. Once you are at this point you will be required to type in a name for your access point: Type in "Internet" and then save your settings and exit back to standby screen.
You should now be able to browse the internet.
Best wishes,

SOURCE: internet access problem

Unplug power from the modem AND the router.  Plug in the modem and wait until all the lights turn on (except if there is an activity light).  Then plug in the router.  Reconnect to the network from your computer.

I have to use internet through my computer so how can i use it ...

Hi and Welcome to Fixya

Using an internet to your computer requires you to subscribe for an internet service provider. You can scout first at your area for a good internet provider e.g verizon, comcast etc. Once you subscribe for the internet service provider, they will provide you a moden and install it to your premise. The modem is usually and ethernet type modem, so make sure that your computer has ethernet adapter ready. All you need to do is plug in the ethernet mode to your computer usng the ethernet cable then that's it. You can now browse to the internet.

Thank you for using Fixya!

What is wifi

Hi,
Wireless local area network is a local area network that uses high frequency radio signals to transmit and receive data over distances of a few hundred feet, uses ethernet protocol.

In simple word allow you to surf internet without any internet cable connection, Wi-Fi enabled device such as a personal computer, video game console, smartphone or digital audio player can connect to the Internet when within range of a wireless network connected to the Internet. The coverage of one or more (interconnected) access points called hotspots, can comprise an area as small as a few rooms or as large as many square miles. Coverage in the larger area may depend on a group of access points with overlapping coverage.

In addition to private use in homes and offices, Wi-Fi can provide public access at Wi-Fi hotspots provided either free-of-charge or to subscribers to various commercial services. Organizations and businesses - such as those running airports, hotels and restaurants - often provide free-use hotspots to attract or assist clients. Enthusiasts or authorities who wish to provide services or even to promote business in selected areas sometimes provide free Wi-Fi access.

I reset my flashed lg dare and now the internet service on it isnt working

Hello,

Since you flashed your phone, all the settings on it will be lost, so to get back your internet, you will have to subscribe for it from your mobile internet service provider. And if you have the manual configuration, then you will have to enter it manually by going to the internet option from the menu, then go to the settings, then you enter the settings manually.

If not you will have to subscribe for the internet from your mobile internet service provider. 'After doing this, trust me, your internet will work perfectly fine once again.

Take care and good luck

Changing my broadband from 1 supplier to another. what do i need to do. as i cannot get anything from my new service

Hi there! Try subscribing with a bigger bandwidth... say 2-3 mbps!!!

Or better yet, try to subscribe with ISP's providing a cable internet or FIOS (fiber-optic).

Believe me, cable internet and FIOS are the "IN" thing for internet connections!!!

Internet not working

GPRS: general packet radio service (that's the net in your mobile)
Your GPRS is not subscribed and it needs to be subscribed.

-- Call your service provide (Orange), and ask them to give you info of subscribing GPRS service.

As much as I know... Subscribing to GPRS is free, but the usage charge will be there.
