U5180-910 vacuum shuts off on own

My vacuum shuts off during vacuuming and wont turn back on despite various attempts over a span of days. Today, after a month, it turned back on and luckily I was able to get most of my vacuuming done before it shut off again. I have 2 very furry cats, but it still doesn't turn back on when I clean the cartridge.

I have the same problem! I cleaned out the filters, emptied the can and plugged it in - nothing! It has been a week now and it still wont turn on.

My Hoover Fusion Vacuum Cleaner just suddenly stopped working. It is less than a year old....I love my vacuum. Is there a fuse somewhere to replace?

I have the same problem with my Hoover Windtunnel Cyclone. I have a white german shepherd that sheds a lot, and while vacuuming tonight the thing just shut off. Is it just overheated?

I have a similar problem - the unit shuts off after about 10 -15 minutes and may not restart for hours or days. It appears totally intermittent, but my assumption is the thermal protection circuit has gone bad since the unit has been thoroughly cleaned. This means shipping the vacuum back to Hoover. I'd rather buy a reconditioned unit than do that.

I had same problem. Turned out to be the filter that sits above the waste cannister. Remove the waste cannister. There is a little orange lever that releases the filter. It was caked with dirt not allowing any air flow causing the motor to overheat.

This foam filter gets dirty pretty fast.

Me too, it would shut down. I emptied the bag and cleaned the filter with dish washing soap and we are good to go! There may be some people with bad thermal sensors, but I think they need to really clean the hepa filter. This is the main air input port.

I'm having a problem with my vacuum shutting down after 5 minutes. I'm going to try this and hopefully it'll resolve the problem. The vacuum cleaner itself has good suction and cleans the carpet well. Thank You for the information.

It maybe plugged somewhere casuing the motor to overheat and shut down. Check the hose and the inlet by the brush roll for clogs. The air intake tube on the back, take off and check in that area. See also page 11 in your owner manual. Or go to:

The motor overheats and shuts off. This annoying because it has done it at least 5 times today during normal vacuuming. It shuts off easily when you use the hose and canister to clean the steps or around...

Almost all vacuum cleaners have a thermal cut-out, which operates when the machine gets too hot and resets automatically when it cools down. Overheating is almost always caused by a blockage. Either the filters need cleaning or changing, or there's an obstruction somewhere in the pipe-work. Make sure there's good clear air flow and your problem should be solved. Good luck!

Lift off won't **** up.

Check both filters and give unit time to sit. Thermo switch can take several days to reset.

Can't shut off my vacuucm, it keeps on working despite the fact that I place it on OFF.

I have resolved this issue, I just opened the nozzele and checked the wires for any damaged ones. In deed one was damaged, therefore i soldered it.
