Here's and excerpt from the Netgear WNR2000 user manual explaining that this is normal behavior for Netgear routers that support WPS..:

  • Keep Existing Wireless Settings. This check box is automatically selected after WPS is enabled to prevent unwanted settings changes, and is also selected if you have already specified wireless security settings or your SSID without using WPS. When this check box is not selected, adding a new wireless client using the push button or the Add WPS Client screen (see "Push Button Configuration" on page 2-14) changes the router's SSID and security passphrase. You might need to clear it if you are using certain registrars, such as for a Windows Vista PC, to configure the router through WPS.
Even if your router is not a WNR2000, it is likely that the configuration interface pretty much the same so you might be helped by looking at Chapter 2 page 17 in the WNR2000 manual here..:
Or else, go to Netgear support (NETGEAR Support Welcome), select Wi-Fi routers and download/display the user manual pdf and search it for "disable router's pin" or "keep existing wireless settings" and verify/change the setting so the router doesn't make changes when you use the WPS button.

SOURCE: Is there a WPS button,

http://www-security-camera.com/d-link-dcs-930l-mydlink-enabled-wireless-n-network-camera/
This is a "plug and play "device ...and all you have to do is to open it and let it find the network ..and after that will be visible in your network places folder...and a device ..
if you want a more advanced control you should install the software that came with it ...
It may be necessary to change the security and remove the password while connecting ...or ..if you have a mac access set to the router ..add the camera's mac to it ...
It is supposed to find the network and connect to it auto ..once you enable the wireless connection on it ..
Also if you preset the IP range in the router ..you may need to enlarge it so that the camera 's IP to be in that range ..but Im not that sure about that ..cause it is a wireless device and it may have no issue of that kind..Just take a good look at it ..cause it probably has a button you need to enable for instant auto access ...

SOURCE: Does the linksys-G support WPS or AOSS?

Good question, I have the same router & Brother HL-2280DW and ran the printer setup CD from Windows XP SP3 via temporary USB connection & it seemed to work. The WAN report on the printer itself says OK, however the computer can't seem to find the printer "No devices could be found on the network." I let setup make changes to Windows Firewall, not sure about Microsoft Security Essentials however. This seems like a nice printer/copier at a nice price but this setup is frustrating! PS If it's a security issue I'd like to say thanks to all the hackers for ruining technology for everyone, your junk is responsible for slowing down & complicating computers & technology in the world. Someone please do everyone a favor & start making antibodies that *kill* viruses & spyware & spam and clean & speed things up for a change! All these villians - Where are the cyber super heroes????

Where is the wps pin on a Samsung direct w8c48x printer

It relies on the WPS button on your router. Get to the Searching for WiFi on the printer then push WPS button on router. After a little delay the printer should say it has connected to network. If not, use the function that connects via the router password entered directly.

Good luck and please rate 4 stars if answer is helpful.

To adapt N300 Wireless Adapter, I need to press the WPS button on wireless router or gateway. Unable to locate WPS button.

The reason you may wish to press a WPS button is to connect to a WiFi network. The WPS button will be on the router, not on your computer. If no WPS button on the router you will need to enter the WEP/WPA password to connect to the router.

Can't find the PIN of this product

Good morning. There is no PIN to find on the router. You get the PIN from the Wireless client and enter into the router setup screen.
The wireless router supports two types of WPS, the WPS via Push Button and WPS via PIN code. If you want to use the Push Button, you have to push a specific button on the wireless client or in the utility of the wireless client to start the WPS mode, and switch the wireless router to WPS mode. You can simply push the WPS button of the wireless router, or click the 'Start to Process' button in the web configuration interface. If you want to use the PIN code, you have to know the PIN code of the wireless client and switch it to WPS mode, then fill-in the PIN code of the wireless client through the web configuration interface of the wireless router.

Here is the link for the Owners Manual for your router..

I have two laptops and want to set up a wireless network. I have the wireless set up but it isn't secure. When I go in to the Homegroups page it asks me for a 4 or 8 digit PIN number found on the router....

If you don't know it, you won't be able to automate your Wifi Protected Setup (WPS). The pin is a very specific way to prevent yourself from always having to remember codes, keys, passphrases, etc. Without it, its like saying that you want to to connect to Bank of America, and that it's just okay because you want it to happen.

The following is taken from the ESR-9753 manual:

- Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)

WPS is the simplest way to establish a connection between the wireless clients
and the wireless router. You don’t have to select the encryption mode and fill in a
long encryption passphrase every time when you try to setup a wireless
connection. You only need to press a button on both wireless client and wireless
router, and the WPS will do the rest for you.

The wireless router supports two types of WPS: WPS via Push Button and
WPS via PIN code. If you want to use the Push Button, you have to push a
specific button on the wireless client or in the utility of the wireless client to start
the WPS mode, and switch the wireless router to WPS mode. You can simply
push the WPS button of the wireless router, or click the ‘Start to Process’ button
in the web configuration interface. If you want to use the PIN code, you have to
know the PIN code of the wireless client and switch it to WPS mode, then fill-in
the PIN code of the wireless client through the web configuration interface of the
wireless router.
