I've never seen a lock like that was intended to be that way, but have made that mistake when the shaft that goes through the bolt portion of the deadbolt is square and is 90 degrees off in the square hole it goes through. If so remove two screws on the inside and take out assembly with the key hole, position key hole bottom, then put key side assembly with shaft through bolt portion of lock. Test the key to see if it locks and unlocks, maybe you need to position shaft 90 degrees to left or right to work, then put cover on inside house and the two screws.

It sounds like you may have the Turn Lock Feature disabled. View and scroll down in the instruction sheet to the Troubleshooting portion, where it says " Pressing (the) Schlage (button) does not rotate deadbolt" The solution is to push the PC button, then the Schlage button, then 7 to enable the turn lock feature.

Is there a special tool for removing commercial locksets?

The spanner tool that Schlage includes with many of their new locks will work on the old ones. Search Google images for "schlage spanner wrench" and you'll see different styles, but they all can be made to work. You remove the inside knob (or lever handle, but let's say it's a knob) by sticking the pin end (or a straightened out large paperclip) into the hole in the knob towards the edge of the door and press in the springy retainer. While pressing in the retainer, pull the knob away from the door. If the pin is all the way in, the knob won't move away more than about 3/32", so after it starts moving, remove the pin and the knob should come off the rest of the way. If the inside knob has a keyhole, then you need to turn the key about 90 degrees, or as far as it will go, before the retainer will move. If you don't have a key, then pick it, or drill the pins so it will turn. If you don't care what happens to the old lock because you are going to replace it, you can cut off the inner knob with a hacksaw. Cut as close to the rose as possible. Once you have the knob off, use the spanner to remove the inside rose trim, and then pull the lock out of the door from the outside.

Why won't my schlage deadbolt key go to the neutral spot in the lock position to remove the key?

You likely have the lever that goes from the outside portion of the lock through the striker/bolt assembly into the inside portion rotated into an incorrect position when you insert it into the striker/bolt assembly.

How do I fix a Schlage deadbolt. B60 series will not unlock from the inside unless the key is inserted from the outside

With the door open, remove the interior trim (thumb turn) from the door, and using the key, turn the deadbolt to the locked position. Now re-install the thumb turn, in the locked position, and with the key removed see if you are able to unlock the deadbolt. I suspect that the tailpiece (part that sticks out of the lock cylinder and into the thumb turn) is not in the correct position.

Our schlage lock with thumbturn on inside and keyed on outside. When unlock inside, knob turns freely as if it is really unlocked but if I close door, I get locked out. Please help

Be sure the outside knob is unlocked before closing the door.
Schlage locks do not lock the inside knob or lever. After releasing the turn button, also turn the inside lever or knob, then check the outside knob.
What model of lock is this?

Light turns green but door won't open

Hi! I am trying to open this lock with my code, but it won’t open. It keeps blinking green. I didn’t change the code and I know that the red light was coming on for a few days. I think it’s the battery but any tips?

Deadbolt becomes stuck without a lot of force.

This sounds like the fit between the thumbturn and the bolt is compromised. If you pull out the thumbturn, take a look at the flat metal blade that fits into the rectangular or "8" shaped hole in the deadbolt mechanism. I think this has become bent or misshapped somehow. Or maybe the hole has a rough burr on it. You might be able to flatten the blade with a hammer and anvil or maybe dress up the problem with a file. Good luck.

Just installed a Schlage secureKey deadbolt. The key goes in the keyhole but won't turn. The inside works fine - locks and unlocks.

the first thing to check is to take the hardware off the door and check the lock cylinder with the key and make sure the key works the cylinder,, lots of times the tail piece is in the wrong position and will not allow the lock to turn. also - sometimes the latch and the lock are not lined up and bind, preventing the cylinder from turning.
but maybe the cyclinder itself is keyed wrong and if you take it back to the store where you bought it you should be able to swap it out for one that works,, install that one and all should be good.
